The 7th edition of the Petit Race was held last weekend at Mustit Raceway in Norway. In 2wd buggy, the race was dominated by the Swedes with David Ronnefalk (Kyosho) taking the TQ position and he also ended up taking the win. Second place went to Christoffer Svensson (Kyosho) with 3rd to Oskar Levin (TLR).

Last weekend was the DHI Cup in Odense, Denmark. The event is held over three days and includes on-road and off-road racing on two separate tracks. On Friday there was practice and one round of qualifying and after a few minor set-up changes Jörn was ready for qualifying. Jörn went on to TQ three out of four qualifying rounds, which put him 1st on the grid in both classes. Triple A-Mains were held on Sunday. The 4WD finals were perfect, with Jörn winning the first 2 mains. In 2nd, it was Martin Bayer and 3rd Tom Cockerill. 2WD was a little more work for Jörn after crashing into a lapped driver on the main straight in A2, which broke his front A-arm. Jörn was able to win A1 and A3, to get the overall victory in 2WD, followed by Tom Cockerill in 2nd and Martin Bayer in 3rd.

Pro-Line have announced the signing of European & British National champion Lee Martin for 2013. Lee is a World Class racer and has already shown that his newly acquired Pro-Line rubber is capable of World Class results by dominating the Italian Job in his opening event. He had this to say:

The fifth of eight races of the 2012/13 Mibosport Cup presented by Yokomo attracted again 100 Czech and foreign drivers. The Mibosport Cup is organised by Michal Bok and his crew and the event takes place in the same venue as this weekend’s ETS Rd2. As usually the race was held for a variety of electric classes such as 2WD and 4WD buggy, Formula, Yokomo GT, Stock 17.5T and Modified TC. In the TC Modified class 18 drivers fought for the victory and the battle for TQ was on between Radek Flek, David Nemcek, Mario Sowka and Kuba Simurda. The TQ went to Radek Flek ahead of David Nemcek and Mario Sowka. In the A-Main it was big battle between Radek, David and Mario. The win went to David Nemcek, with Radek Flek in 2nd and Mario Sowka third. A very good race in this category also for Kuba Simurda who was fourth place overall.

The annual DHI Cup has opened the 2013 racing season last weekend at a very nice indoor track in Denmark and Martin Hudy sent us this report. “This year the organisers built two tracks, one for on-road racing and one for off-road and the racing as was going on in both categories at the same time, so a lot of action. As usually all the European’s best drivers and factory teams were in the place to fight for the DHI title.

The organisers the 2012 Dirt Nitro Challenge in Arizona were in touch to tell us about their annual event which will be run from the 20th to the 24th of the February. Back again at the Fear Farm RC Raceway in Phoenix, AZ, the event attracts the best offroad drivers in the World and this year will be no exception. This event is open to both gas & electric 1.8th buggy as well as truggy, short course and 1/5th buggy/truck, with the latter running on a separate track. The event starts on Wednesday the 20th of February for practice and runs through to Sunday the 24th for the buggy mains and you can follow all the action here on Red RC. Team Orion factory driver Dustin Evans has re-signed with the Swiss company through 2013. This will be Evans’s 3rd consecutive year with Team Orion and over the past 2 years, Evans was able to capture his 1st ROAR National Championship at NorCal Hobbies in Union City, CA in 2011 as well as countless other races with Team Orion including the prestigious Invitational Class Overall at the Reedy International Off-Road Race of Champions in 2011. Team Orion USA Team Manager Joe Pillars says, “Dustin has been a big piece of the puzzle for Team Orion’s electric off-road program. Dustin has been great to work with and testing new products that we use today”.

2006 ISTC World Champion Andy Moore has re-signed with Team HB for the 2013 season. Coming off a strong 2012 season, including a 4th place finish at the IFMAR 1/10th IC World Championships, Andy will be looking for more success in 2013. Andy will be campaigning the HB TCXX and R10 platforms for the upcoming season. He had this to say:
I’m excited to get racing in 2013 after a successful 2012 with both the TCXX and the new R10. This will be my 9th year running for team HB/HPI and I’d like to thank Tatsuro Watanabe and Hiro Kasuya for their continued support. As always I will be at most of the big on road races this year and look forward to seeing everyone at the track.
