Drake TQs Pro Buggy at Silver State NC

Silver State Nitro Challenge

Adam Drake continues his great form from Fridays qualifying, where he TQ’d in truggy and qualified 2nd in 1/10th truck, to take TQ spot for Sundays Pro Buggy class at the Silver State Nitro Challenge. The Losi driver out paced Jared Tebo who was racing the new O’Donnell buggy, that we showed you a while back, took the 2nd position after qualifying with, 1/10th truck pole man, Mike Truhe for Team Losi lining up in 3rd. Jason Ashton is doing a great job for the new Spanish made Sidorf, qualifying in 4th for Sundays final.

Truhe and Drake TQ at Silver State NC

Silver State Nitro Challenge

Qualifying for the 1/10th truck and truggy classes at this years Silver State Nitro Challenge, that takes place in Nevada this week, are over and it was Losi drivers Mike Truhe and Adam Drake that took the TQ spot in the their respective classes. In the 1/10th truck, Truhe was the class of the field claiing top spot, with 2 of the 3 rounds of qualifying to count, and could finish ahead of 2nd placed team mate Adam Drake with Travis Amezcua in 3rd. In the truggy class, it was a reverse of the top 2 in 1/10th with Drake taking the top spot ahead of Truhe, with Kyosho driver Cody King in 3rd. Buggy qualifying will be run today (Saturday) with all top mains run on Sunday.

2007 FEMCA Championships, Jakarta

2007 FEMCA Championships, Jakarta

This years FEMCA Championships will take place on the 25th – 27th of May on the Jakarta International Twin Circuit in Indonesia. This will be the biggest on road gas race in Asia this year with all the top drivers from the surrounding countries coming to the event to win their regional championships. The event will run controlled fuel, similar to the situation at last years Worlds in Brisbane, and the fuel chosen by the organisers is Meccamo Racing Fuel. Mark Green wins 1/8th scale Pre Worlds in Argentina

Pre Worlds in Argentina

Mark Green has won the 2007 pre World Championships held last week at the host track in Cordoba, Argentina. Racing the only Serpent 960 in the final, Mark was in good company with some of the best Italian racers present at the event, including current World Champion Lamberto Collari. In the end Mark could win easily, showing great pace to win by a lap ahead of current 1/10th European Champion Dario Balestri who was driving the all Italian combination of Novarossi powered Motonica. Marco Vanni brought his Mugen home in 3rd, ahead of prevous Worlds finalist Walter Salemi also driving a Mugen. Masao Tanaka was making his international debut for Motonica and finished in 6th, giving a strong showing for this car while the other Japanese in the final was current 1/10th World Champion Keisuke Fukuda who suffered problems ending his race in 9th, one place ahead of World Champ Collari who retired early on due to radio problems.

Cavalieri and Maifield dominate Cactus Classic

As in qualifying, the racing at this years Cactus Classic was dominated by the Team Associated pairing of Ryan Cavalieri and Ryan Maifield, between them picking up all the big trophies in the modified classes. In the 4wd buggy mod class it was Cavalieri who took the win despite a disastrous 1st main where he only finished 9th allowing Masami Hirosaka to take the round win, but Ryan was able to pull it back together to take the wins in the final 2 mains to take the overall win, with Yokomo racer Hirosaka ending up in 2nd, with Maifield in 3rd. In 2wd mod, the Ryans were reversed with Maifield taking the win despite a seemingly more consistent run by Cavalieri, but wins count and Maifield took 2 and with it the overall win ahead of Cavalieri in 2nd and Team Losi driver Jesse Robbers in 3rd. In Truck mod the top 4 from 2wd mod were repeated with Maifield taking the win ahead of 2nd placed Cavalieri with Jesse Robbers in 3rd and Jared Tebo, as he finished in 2wd buggy mod, in 4th.

2007 Cactus Classic – Qualifying results

This weekend sees the first big international electric off road race of the year, the 21st Annual Cactus Classic race that is taking place at Scottsdale RC Speedway in Arizona. Qualifying is over and its the Ryans that are topping the timing sheets in the modified classes with Associated drivers Ryan Maifield taking the TQ spot in truck mod ahead of Ryan Cavalieri in 2nd and current ROAR National class champion Jared Tebo in 3rd. In buggy mod its Cavalieri that has taken the pole spot ahead of Tebo in 2nd, with Japanese legend Masami Hirosaka driving for Yokomo in 3rd while In 2wd buggy mod its a repeat of the top 3 in truck with Maifield in the pole followed by Cavalieri and Tebo in 2nd and 3rd with British driver, and current World Champion, Neil Cragg in 4th. Racing takes place today, Sunday, and we hope to bring you the results when we get them.

1/8th Off road EFRA GP Norway

EFRA GP Norway

We received notification that the organisers of this summers 1/8th Off road EFRA GP in Norway, have opened the event for entries. The event will take place on the 18th – 19th of August this year and will be run by the Grenland Modellbilklubb on their track in Skien, 2 hours south of Oslo. It should be a good event and has already, even at this early stage, attracted over 35 entrants with some top names among those.

Cristiani wins Euro B warm up race

Euro B warm up race

Current European 1:8 B Champion Andrea Cristiani has won the ‘Warm Up‘ race for the 2007 EFRA European 1:8 IC Track B Championships. Racing at Tolmin in Slovenia over the weekend (10/11 March), the Italian Serpent driver took the win by a narrow 4 second margin over 2007 EC-B title favourite Jernej Vuga from Slovenia who was Top Qualifier for the race.

The pace of racing at the ‘Warm Up’ event was ultra competitive with Cristiani and Vuga pushing each other throughout proceedings with local ace Vuga using his Mugen to set a new lap record time of 16.491 for Minitrack ‘Na Logu’. Italy’s Nicola Ometto, also driving a Mugen, completed the podium. As the current European 1:8 B Champion, Cristiani is not eligible to race in the 2007 EC-B on May 25-27 putting former EC-B Vice-Champion Vuga in a very strong position going into the Bonisio sponsored event.
