Widmaier crowned Austria 1:8 Buggy Champion

Sworkz’s Micha Widmaier added to his 2025 Austrian National Championship tally by securing the 1:8 Nitro Buggy title at the MAX RC Car Racing track over the weekend.  Recently crowned both the 1:10 2WD and 4WD National Champion, Widmaier would take the overall TQ on tiebreak with the similar buggy of Julius Siklodi, each posting two TQ runs from the four rounds of qualifying with Martin Wollanka completing the Top 3.  Each driver would win their respective Semi Final with Widmaier’s win over Marc De Zwart securing him pole position for the 45-minute Main with Siklodi lining up P3.  While Siklodi would keep Widmaier on his toes in the final, setting the fastest lap of the race as he tried to chase him down, it was Austria’s top international driver who took the win by just over half a lap.  From 7th on the grid the Team Associated of Andreas Mayr completed the podium as he just held off De Zwart.

Orlowski sets early pace at Offroad Worlds

Schumacher’s Michal Orlowski has set the early pace at the IFMAR 1:10 Offroad World Championship, the 2WD action getting underway on a lovely sunny morning here in Sydney, Australia.  With the first of the four timed practices more a break in of the new track layout and and opportunity for drivers to get their bearings, over half the track in the shade of the trees, the second practice was a much more telling run.  Orlowski would set the fastest lap with a best of 29.032 with the Team Associated of Davide Ongaro closest to that on a 29.112, that order the same over the best 3-consecutive laps.  On outright pace it was the Xray of David Ronnefalk who completed the Top 3 but over the full 5-minutes the early bragging rights went to newly crowned 1:8 eBuggy World Champion Marcus Kaerup with US drivers Aydin Horne, 1.6-seconds off, and Broc Champlin making up the Top3.

Van Der Bol caps off Dutch 1:5 title with Rucphen win

The final round of the Dutch 1:5 National Championship took place at Rucphen, where it was Mecatech/GRP driver Rick Van der Bol who capped off his 2025 title success with a race win.  In qualifying Hessel Roskam secured the TQ ahead of Van der Bol thanks to his time from the second of the three 8-minute qualifying runs.  Luke Van den Berg completed the Top 3 on the grid for the 30-minute final.  In the main, with set-up changes improving the speed of his car, World & European Championship finalist Van der Bol quickly got to the front before Roskam retired from the race.  Staying clear out front, multiple Dutch Champion Van der Bol would win ahead of sixth place qualifier Bas Aalders with Marco Harleman completing the podium ahead of Van den Berg who recorded the fastest lap of the final.

Tamiya Group C Series – Announcement

It is great to see a number of new grass roots level RC series being created and the latest one involves former Red RC photographer Riccardo Acciari who is involved in the creation of the Tamiya Group C Series in his home country of Italy.  Round 1 of the all new series will be held October 19th on the wonderful Vallelunga RC track, nested inside the famous full scale racetrack.  The debut race will kick off the inaugural five race championship that will span over the whole racing season, with the season finale taking place on June 21st.  Based off the re-issued Tamiya Group C car, the class aims for simplicity and affordability, without losing its competitiveness.  The essential chassis is powered by a handout 17.5 EFRA list motor and shod by handout foam tires custom made by Italian tire manufacturer Enneti.  The Porsche 956, Mercedes C11, Nissan R90C and Mazda 787-B bodies will have to be painted in a realistic livery that actually competed in the Group C era (from 1982 to 1983).  With 32 drivers who have already entered the Championship, the aim is to expand the format to other areas in Italy and create a network with other organisers around Europe.

Austrian 1:10 Offroad Nationals Rnd 4 – Report

Last weekend MAC-Traiskirchen in the south of Vienna and former host of two 1:10 Electric Offroad European Championships, held the 4th Round of the Austrian National Championships.  Competing at the tricky, high grip astro track, the race attracted an entry with many European Top Guns that included Micha Widmaier, former European Champions like Hupo Hönigl and Peter Pinisch as well as the new 2025 2WD European Champion Martin Bayer.  After the completion of qualification which saw a close battle for the overall TQs, it was the Sworkz of Widmaier that took the top spot ahead of the Xray of Robin Riedmann with that ordered switched for 4WD.  The Team Associated of Lucas Grainer completed the 2WD Top 3 while Austrian veteran Hupo Hönigl claimed P3 in 4WD with his Xray.  In the finals the battle between Widmaier and Riedmann continued, both of them risking all and the spectators witnessing daring overtaking manoeuvres like overjumping each other.  In the end they switched positions in each class so Widmaier took the win in 4WD and Riedmann the 2WD victory.  Grainer completed the 2WD podium with Hönigl claiming the final step in 4WD.  In the Stock classes it was the young gun Adrian Hönigl (son of Hupo) who took the win in 4WD/10,5 Motor and old boy Thomas Rössler in the 2WD/13,5 Motor.

Collina retains ACI Italian Touring Car title – Report

Schumacher’s Mattia Collina has successful retained ACI Italian Touring Car title, the championship race of the Italian Motorsport Federation hosted at the renowned Minicar Fontanellato circuit.  The weekend delivered high-level competition, with over 80 drivers from across Italy who earned their spot through the “Coppa Italia di Zona” qualifying rounds.  The track, known for its technical layout and demanding conditions, provided the perfect stage for the four championship classes: Touring Modified, Touring Stock, GT +40 Masters and FWD.  Each class showcased intense battles, strategic driving and the finest talents in Italian RC racing.  In the premier class, Collina once again proved his dominance, securing the national title with a flawless performance in the Modified A-Main.  Alessio Menicucci (Team Infinity) and Jacopo Corna (Team Marka – Awesomatix) completed the podium after a tightly contested race.  Collina’s consistency, pace and race craft were unmatched, confirming his status as one of the top drivers in the country.

Max Land’s new 1:10 Astro track hosts first race

Having announced the addition of a brand new 1:10 astroturf offroad track to the existing Max Land / RC Divoké Jelení racing complex back in July, the Czech Republic’s newest track hosted its first race over the weekend.  The opening event saw racers complete over four buggy classes with Mod and Stock of both 2WD and 4WD.  In 2WD Stock, it was the club’s own Martin Minyuk who claimed the TQ spot, while in 2WD Mod qualifying went the way of Daniel Hofman.  The 4WD action saw the Stock TQ claimed by another club member Vaclav Jires and while 4WD Mod went to the track’s very own Max Gotzl.  In the finals, 2WD Stock would be an intense fight before the overall win went to the TQ man Martin Minyuk and his Xray ahead of Vojtech Hejzlar with Pepa Vich’s Team Associated completing the podium.  In 2WD Mod, factory Xray driver Götzl overtook Hofman at the beginning of the first two legs of the A finals to seal the overall victory.  Vojtech Hujer made it an all XB2 podium.  In 4WD Stock, Jires managed to convert his TQ position into a win in front of Petr Vondrus for an Sworkz 1-2 ahead of the Xray of Vojtech Hejzlar.  4WD Mod saw Götzl win the first two legs to secure a double win at the opening event of his home track ahead of Hofman and Jindrich Jirak.  With the race wrapping up the Czech outdoor season, the club are looking forward to fully utilising the new astro track for the 2026 outdoor season.

Boda adds another French National title with AE

Joining Team Associated at the end of 2024, Clement Boda has given the US manufacturer it second French National Title of the 2025 season after taking the 1:8 Nitro Buggy title with a victory at the season finale at Viglain.  The recent eBuggy World Championship finalist and 2025 1:10 2WD French Champion was up against another Barcelos finalist, Noha Ben Mohamed, for the title.  The Sparko driver, and winner of the 1:10 4WD National Championship earlier this month, would take the early advantage securing the overall TQ in a rain effected qualifying when he topped 2 of the three rounds.  Behind him it was the Mugen Seiki of newly crowned European B Champion driver Hugo Tavernon who secured P2 while Boda was P4.  With a difficult Semi leaving him 9th on the grid for the 45-minute Main, it would be a tough race for 16-year-old Ben Mohamed and he finished 5th while having won his Semi to secure pole position up front Boda could control the race to take the win ahead of Tavernon and Jordan Lot and the secure the overall National title.
