Callens retains French TC title with Round 5 win

Mugen Seiki driver Rémi Callens retained his French Modified Touring Car title over the weekend when he took victory at the 5th & final round of the championship held at Circuit Emerainville Mesrc.  Securing the overall TQ ahead of the Xray of French international touring car stalwart Cyril N’Diaye, Callens took his his LRP electronics equipped MTC2R to the win for back to back title success.  The podium in Emerainville was completed by Ben Jebira.  In an exciting Stock finals, the Round 5 win went to the Awesamtix of Top Qualifier Jeremy Delalondre.  Winner of A2, the Capricorn of Kévin Rasquin claimed the runner-up spot with the Xray of A1 winner Benjamin Elbisser completing the podium.

Cruz wins 3rd annual 1Up Cup at CenCal Speedway

Mugen Seiki driver Jacob Cruz took the win at the 3rd annual 1Up Cup hosted by CenCal Speedway in Fesno, California, over the weekend.  An event that attracted almost 100 entries, in Mod Touring Car it was the Awesomatix of Lex Tyler who took the TQ on tie-breaker with Cruz, each driver having a TQ and P2 while a TQ in Q1 put Aaron Lewis third on the grid.  In the triple A-Mains, Cruz was able to get by Tyler in the first encounter and again win A2 to wrap up the overall win.  With a DNF in A2, victory in A3 kept Tyler ahead of Lewis on the final podium.  Cruz would enjoy a double victory at the event securing the win also in Nitro Touring Car having started as the Top Qualifier.

Lot crowned French 1:8 Nitro Buggy Champion

Sworkz driver Jordan Lot was crowned the new French 1:8 Nitro Buggy Champion over the weekend after taking victory at the fourth & final round of the championship which was hosted by Mini Bolides Chanusiens 61.  Having claimed the eBuggy title two weeks earlier, this would be Lot’s sixth win from the 8 National Championship races that made up both championships.   Qualifying second behind Top Qualifier Matisse Peyre for the Nitro title decider, Lot would win his Semi final to start pole in the 45-minute final which he would control to win from the Kyosho of multiple former European & French Champion Reno Savoya with Peyre’s Xray completing the podium.  Overall Savoya would finish runner-up in the championship.

BRCA 4WD Onroad Nationals R5 Colchester – Report

For the fifth and final round of this year’s BRCA 4WD Onroad Championship it was off to the Colchester track.  With the Modified and 17.5 titles already decided, it just left the 13.5 title to be decided. A couple of surprise entries were previous champions Olly Jefferies and the now un-retired Elliott Harper.  In Modified the first round of qualifying saw the returning Elliott Harper with his Schumacher Mi8 go fastest from Alex Thurston’s Yokomo BD-12 and defending champion, Kyle Branson, with his Xray X4, the top six were all on 22 laps.  Q2 saw another TQ for Elliott from Bailey Graves, Alex and Schumacher’s Andy Murray.  Elliot made it a hat-trick of wins by taking Q3 from Olly Jefferies and Kyle.  So, it was Elliott on pole position from Alex with Olly edging out Kyle for third by virtue of the tie-break.  In the finals, the first leg was wet with the rest being dry, and it was Elliott who took the clean sweep of all three legs for the overall win, what a way to make your return. Behind him it was Alex in the runner-up spot with a brace of seconds, with the final podium spot going to Kyle with a second and a fourth, edging out Olly who had two thirds.

Tamiya Asia Cup 2023 Thailand – Report

After a 3 year break, the Tamiya Asia Cup 2023 was hosted by Thailand on September 15 -17 with 10 countries in attendance.  History was made when 22-year-old Porsha Mangilit from the Philippines became the first female driver to TQ and Win the prestigious 4WD GT Class in the 20+ years of the event.  Having a bad Q1 and Q2 due to ESC issues, she TQ’ed Q3 and Q4 to secure the overall TQ spot on the grid. In A1 a rare mistake cost her and finished in 2nd place.  With her back against the wall again, Porsha came thru with solids win in A2 and A3 to be crowned the Tamiya Asia Champion.  This earned her a ticket to race in the Tamiya World Championships which will be held in Japan at the end of the year.

Ioannidis & Oikonomou win Greek Nationals Rd3 – Report

Over the weekend the 3rd round of the Greek Nationals in 1:10 EP Touring took place in the technical track of RcManiacs located in Argos, Greece.  The weather was hot with asphalt temperature reaching 50oC making it challenging for all drivers to fine-tune the setup of their cars.  In the Touring Modified class, it was reigning Greek Champion and Awesomatix driver Dimitris Ioannidis who was ahead of the pack taking TQ early on by taking Q1,Q2,Q3 and winning leg 1 and leg 2 of the finals tone to tone securing the overall victory and making it 2 out of 2 wins this season.  On his way to victory, he was able to break the lap track record becoming the first driver to do a sub-10second lap in the track’s 7-year history and the 5-minute track record in qualifying. Behind him, fast Mugen Seiki driver Andreas Koutras was able to secure P2 overall after also starting P2 on the grid, lacking a little bit of pace compared to P1 but doing a solid job indeed.  Rounding out the podium was Greek Nitro 1:10 Champion Dimitris Dimitriou (Xray) who started from P3 on the grid and was able to secure another podium finish in the Modified class.

‘RC Arena’ reopens for ’23/24 Winter season

Swiss indoor track ‘RC Arena’ is to reopen for the 2023/24 Winter season.  With both onroad and offroad drivers coming together to create the indoor track in Wädenswil last year, the 1300 metre squared is back to again and offers the perfect facility for racers to prepare for upcoming indoor season or just to stay sharp over the winter.  Having hosted the opening round of the Swiss 1:10 Offroad National Championships, the track will open on 30th September 2023.  Again the facility features a 600m2 offroad track using EOS carpet with the 720m2 onroad track drivers will also enjoy a new 720m2 ETS carpet surface.

Ingholm & Johannessen win Norwegian Nationals RD4

ARC/RCMN drivers Albin Ingholm and Helge Johannessen emerged as winners in their respective classes at the 4th & final round of the Norwegian Touring Car Nationals, with Ingholm winning the Modified class and Johannessen taking the top spot in the Stock class.  In Modified, Xray’s Mathias Nedrebø claimed the TQ, edging out Albin Ingholm by 0.6 seconds.  The top three in qualifying was completed by the Awesomatix of Geir Bjarte Terum.  In the finals, Nedrebø won A1 by a blistering 4 seconds.  A2 offered thrilling battles, with Ingholm taking the lead halfway into the race, ultimately winning by a razor-thin margin of 0.4 seconds.  The tension escalated in A3 as both Ingholm and Nedrebø were determined to leave their mark on the weekend.  Ingholm wasted no time and took the lead on the first lap. Ingholm was slowly able to create a gap of about 1 second, but Nedrebø made a mistake on the last few laps, allowing Ingholm to cruise to victory with a margin of almost 5 seconds.  Alexander Gjemble  driving a Schumacher completed the podium.
