SpeedMerchant driver Craig Xavier TQ’d and won the Wold GT class at the 2013 Las Vegas International Indoor Championships. After taking pole position Craig went on to win the World GT A-Main wire to wire while lapping the field all the way up to 3rd place. Craig was joined in the A-Main by team mate Dave Berger who finished 6th with his Protoform Gianna GT clad SpeedMerchant World GT 3hree.

With 10-days remaining until to the opening round of Season #7 of the Yokomo Euro Touring Series in the Czech Republic, the organisers are excited to announce Muchmore as their new electronics partner for the Xray Pro Stock class. The biggest of the three classes on the ETS program, 383 drivers having registered points in the 13.5T Touring Car class last season, the deal with Muchmore will see racers use a handout FLETA EURO ESC in combination with the FLETA ZX 13.5T motor which will also be laser engraved with the ETS logo and unique serial number.

When I started racing, I’d turn up at a meeting and, if I’d got there early enough, maybe have time for a quick practice run before we got started with the qualifying rounds. As I then started attending bigger events, we got to the point where you’d also go to the track the day before the meeting for a day of open practice, often queuing or jostling for position on the drivers stand in order to get as many runs as you could through the day.

Last weekend saw the first round of the PileCup and DRCMU championship series at the indoor track in Broendby, just outside of Copenhagen. 50 drivers attended the race and had a fantastic weekend, with a lot of close racing, good food, big trophies and good fun. In the SuperStock class there was a comeback for Danni Eyde-Nielsen, who had been on “maternity leave” for some years, but he is now back together with his mentor Soeren Boy Holst in the T.O.P. racing team. The class was packed with good drivers, and it was obvious to see after practice that the fight for the 8 A-final places would be really tough.

The 8th and final Round of the JBRL Electric Series finished off at Jimmy’s home track – Hot Rod Hobbies. In 2WD Modified Buggy Team Associated’s Cody Numedahl came in first, followed by Kyosho’s Cody King and Kevin Motter (Team Associated). Cody also wrapped up the overall 2013 JBRL series championship.

Central Valley R/C Raceway hosted the Octoberfest this weekend. TLR’s Phillip Atondo TQ’d the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class and was the only one to go the extra lap in qualifying. Race went deep into the night and track changed a lot with the moisture coming up and under the lights. At the start of the 30 minute buggy main Atondo made early mistakes as he dropped back to about 5th witch allowed Tyler Vik and Austin Blair to get out front. Vik and Blair were battling which allowed Atondo to reel them in. Atondo got by Blair and was setting his sights on Vik who was running a smooth race. Just after the halfway mark Atondo caught Vik and they would swap positions with a great battle and Atondo being patient to get around Vik. In the last 5 minutes of the race Vik crashed in the big rhythm section witch allowed Atondo to get by and pull away for the win.

During the last couple of weeks JQ Products released a 3-part video series of their upcoming THE White Edition 1/8th nitro buggy and now also have first photos available. The forthcoming evolution step of THECar features a new front end with long lower arms and a conventional C-hub suspension that, according to JQ Products mastermind Joseph Quagraine, offers the best compromise in nearly all track conditions making THE White Edition easy to set-up and to run for intermediate and pro level drivers alike. Beside a new front end the buggy also received revamped rear end components such as aluminium hubs that allow for outboard toe-in settings in order to maximise traction. In order to make maximum use of the new geometry JQ included 16mm shock pistons and the kit comes with a large range of option parts such as front aluminium knuckles, aluminium centre bulkhead and reinforced shock towers. The first round of the Portuguese Touring Series was held at the Monsanto track. The sugar-watered track and nice weather made for good racing all weekend in the Modified and Stock classes that were run very similar to the ETS rules. In the Modified class qualifying ARC driver Hugo Miguel was the man to beat as he won 3 out of the 4 rounds. João Miguel Martinho and Filipe Costa tried to put some pressure into Hugo, with João TQ’ing one round, but it wasn’t enough to beat Hugo’s performance. The finals were no different from qualifying with Hugo transforming his TQ into an overall win, followed by Filipe Costa and Miguel Martinho.
