Tasos Paparegkas wins Greek Nitrofest 2011

The new Top RC track in Thesaloniki, Greece was the host of the 2011 Greek Nitrofest. A total of 30 drivers attended at the three day event that not only attracted lokal drivers but also one Joseph Quagraine from far Finland. Tasos Paparegkas took TQ with his Xray XB808 ’11 followed by John Paparegkas (Xray XB808 ’11) and Joseph Quagraine (JQ THE Car). The 45 minutes long final was a close affair with many lead changes between Paparegkas and Quagraine with the better end for Tasos who won the race by 9 seconds in front of Joseph and John.

Choi Nak Sung claims Korean Nationals titel

Shepherd racer Choi Nak Sung has won the annual KMRCA National 1/8th On-Road Championship which took place at the Oh-Chang Hitec Circuit near Oh-Chang in South Korea. The race which is considered the most important race of the season attracted 40 drivers in total. During qualification Choi Nak Sung showed a good performance taking the TQ spot with his Velox V8 “eleven”. In the final Sung was unchallenged leading from start to the checkered flag crossing the finishing line 3 laps in front of the rest of the drivers field.

Kevin Lee joins Kyosho

Kyosho are very proud to announce UK top driver Kevin Lee as their new team driver. He will be running the new Lazer FS2 SP in 4WD and will continue with the Kyosho based Vega mid-motor buggy in 2WD. As well as winning many Nationals, Kevin is a multi European A finalist and his skills and knowledge will be a big asset to Team Kyosho. This is what Kevin had to say about the deal:

“I’ve always been a big Kyosho fan, ever since running the original Lazer ZX a long time ago as a teenager. After running the Vega RB5 SP2 in 2011, I have been converted back, and now can’t wait to start running the Kyosho Lazer once again (some 20 years on..). It’s an honour to be able to represent one of the most respected RC manufacturers in the world, and I hope to be able to contribute to the results of an already successful race team”.

Travis Amezcua wins JBRL 1/8 electric buggy class

Travis Amezcua has won the 2011 Electric 1/8 Buggy Class at the prestigious JBRL Nitro series. The series visited multiple tracks across southern California over eight months. His Mugen MBX6 Eco powered by LRP equipment proved to be unbeatable. Travis would also finish out the series third in expert gas buggy with his MBX6R powered by the new Ninja JX21-B02 engage. Both rides where rolling on AKA rubber. Travis would like to thank the entire JBRL and Hot Rot Hobbies staff for making the 2011 JBRL series such a huge success.

Mobers wins EPS race Rd1

On-Point got in touch to tell us that Markus Mobers has won the 1/12 scale modified class at the recent round 1 of the European Pan Series held at the MACH Indoor track in the Netherlands. On-Point driver Joey Sorber was able to grab the runner-up spot, both driving the OP12C car. Ruud Savelkoul was able to take the third place.

Adam Drake Sweeps JBRL Nitro Series finals

The final round of the 2011 JBRL Nitro Series was held last weekend at Hot Rod Hobbies. The event was scheduled to be run dry and blue groove, but Mother Nature had a different plan. A rain storm hit late Friday night, but the Hot Rod Hobbies crew did an amazing job to pump off the water and start racing at 10am. The JBRL series consists of eight races with five counting towards your point total over the course of eight months. In the Expert 1/8th Truck class Adam Drake had the championship wrapped up, but still competed in the final race to get more track time. Drake TQ’ed both rounds of qualifying and won the final by a large margin. Second went to Jesse Robinson and third place was Matt Schreffler. Adam Drake is the 2011 JBRL Nitro Series Champion, Cody King second, and Jesse Robinson finished third.

Hu Way-Ping wins KRC Manufacturer Cup

S-Workz Asia Team driver, Hu Way-Ping has won the 2011 KRC Great China Group Manufacturer Cup. The race was held in Beijing with 110 drivers from Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, HongKong and China attending. During the 60 minutes final Hu was able to keep the competition behind winning the race in front of Liu Hou-Tsai and Chan Way with Lee Tsung and Mai Ya finishing fourth and fifth respectively.
