Coelho to contest 1:12 World title

In a major boost for the IFMAR 1:12 World Championship, reigning Touring Car World Champion Bruno Coelho has announced his intentions to travel to Florida for the 21st running of the IFMAR’s second longest running World Championships. The factory Xray star unveiled his intentions at the famous Snowbirds National which is taking place this week when he revealed that in addition to racing Touring Car he would be also contest 1:12 at the iconic Florida race. Known for his ultra successful relationship with Francesco Martini of MonacoRC as his mechanic in Touring Car, the Portuguese driver has teamed up with 1:12 expert Paul Ciccarello to guide him through his first foray into the pan car category. Known for his versatility that includes being the reigning 4WD Buggy World Champion, Coelho has had no trouble adapting to 1:12 as he claimed a TQ run in the opening round of qualifying together with a TQ run in Touring Car. In the past 1:12 kicked off the week of onroad electric World Championships action and most of the touring car stars raced for the title but after South Africa in 2018, where Alexander Hagberg was the only touring car front runner to take on the event, which he duly won, it became a standalone event. In 2020, touring car legend Marc Rheinard took the title in England for a second time. With the US, where Marc won his first 1:12 title in 2014 ending Naoto Matsukura’s 6 year reigning of the category, a hot spot for 1:12 and now Coelho committing to the event, the category looks set to garner plenty of additional attention in 2023. Schumacher’s Pålsson joins MIBO International entry

Top international female offroad racer Jessica Palsson is to contest the inaugural MIBO International Race. The Schumacher backed 1:10 Offroad driver will travel to the Czech Republic for the March 3-5th event as one of a number of Swedish drivers making the trip to Hrotovice. The 20-year-old EFRA Ambassador, is the reigning 2WD Euro Buggy Master Champion and joins the likes of Bruno Coelho, Martin Bayer, Ronald Volker and Christopher Krapp as part of the international field of racers representing 12 counties that will contest the event. Organised by Michal Bok, like its predecessor, the Mibosport Cup, which was a series of races, the one off MIBO International Race weekend will feature two separate tracks to cater for both Onroad and Offroad racing action.

Tamiya TT-02 Type-SRX

It is a chassis that has been the starting point for many a newcomer to the world of RC racing and today Tamiya unveiled the latest edition designation of its TT-02 1:10 Touring Car, the Type SRX. This variant of the 4WD plastic chassis is an upgraded version of the TT-02 Type-S Series with enhanced durability and performance for racing. This chassis kit uses Items 22049 and 22047 with updated parts. Also, parts included in this chassis kit were chosen for users who want to learn setup before levelling up to mid-level Tamiya chassis kits. It is also a more cost-effective than buying each part separately.

Tamiya BBX 2WD Buggy

Maybe not offering the same level of excitement as the past when all the RC brands revealed their new cars, the Nuremburg Toy Fair opened today with Tamiya providing the most interesting new releases so far. First up is the all new BBX. Tamiya’s designers have taken inspiration from its back catalog of iconic 2WD off-road buggies to bring fans of radio control the new buggy. The 1:10 2WD off-road buggy model features a combination of classic design and modern performance. Its brand-new chassis, reminiscent of 1980’s sand rail dune buggies, is a hybrid monocoque-roll cage and employs rear trailing arm suspension inspired by full-size UTV’s. The new body is designed by famed Japanese artist Atsushi Arino and utilises a classic 1980’s inspired livery with retro wheels and tires to match.

Nitro Warrior EP2 2023 – Report

Nitro Warrior EP2 2023 was held at ORT Oasis Racing Track in the Chanthaburi Province of Thailand over the weekend with 3 classes with 1:8 GP Racing, 1:10 GP Touring and 1:8 GT making up the race programme. The race started on Saturday with 4 rounds of qualifying with extreme cool and windy weather affecting both car set-up and driving provide a great experience for many racers. Sunday’s action with one final round of qualifying after which the Top Qualifiers were confirmed as Nay Eon Lee from Republic of Korea from Team KARS in 1:8 GT,
Thailand’s Meen Vejrak from Team Maxima in 1:8 GP Racing and Anusorn Sirironaharong from Thailand from Team SPF Racing in 1:10 GP Touring.

Factory Team B74.2 Stiff 2.5mm Chassis Brace Set

Another new item from for the RC10B74.2 1:10 4WD buggy from Factory Team is this Carbon Fibre Stiff Chassis Brace Support set. It includes both a front and rear brace support machined from 2.5mm thick carbon fibre. This set will decrease chassis flex for high grip situations where that is desired. These have been updated from the previous version to allow clearance for the rear gearbox on the RC10B74.2.

Factory Team B74.2 molded Ring & Pinion Gear Set

New from Factory Team is this molded Ring & Pinion Gear Set for the Team Associated RC10B74.2. These gears reduce the rotational and overall weight of the 1:10 4WD buggy. Each set equates to a weight savings of 13.5g. Made from high strength plastic with added durability through the use of a G10 strengthening ring and an aluminium pinion shaft, these gears have withheld a substantial amount of abuse in testing. This set is intended for use with a centre differential and a 13.5T motor, however, these have proven to hold up to modified power at the highest level of competition for those looking to save weight.

Neumann joins Nova Engines

In more changes to his race programme for 2023, Joern Neumann has announced he will be using Nova Engines. Founded last year by former top Italian onroad racer Stefano Colombini, as the name suggests there is a connection with the iconic Novarossi brand which ceased trading in 2021. Commenting in the announcement that he will represent Nova Engines, the reigning IFMAR GT World Champion said, ‘For nitro engines I will be using Nova Engines to power my Sworkz cars. Thanks to Franco and everyone at Nova Engines for the possibility.
