Xray Column – Time to Move on

Xray Column - Time to Move on

The 35th installment in the Xray column from Xray owner and chief designer Juraj Hudy is now online. In this months column, Juraj gives his feelings on the busy summer of events, as well as talking about he development of the new T3 touring car platform.

All the different prototypes had specific advantages, but their mutual characteristic was that every one of the designs was faster and more easily handling than the T2’009 if you can believe it! It was interesting that the most noticeable differences were on the outdoor track. Some of the cars used to “push” more in the corners, while some of the others had less steering. Of course these differences were very small and for typical drivers might have seemed insignificant, but for professional drivers those were big differences; to reduce a lap time by a fragment of a second it may mean at the end of a 5min run the difference of 2 seconds, which may be difference between making the main final or a lower sub-final.

Elliot Harper dominates RugRacers Rd1

Elliot Harper dominates RugRacers Rd1

The first round of this year’s Muchmore Racing UK RugRacers took place this weekend and the racers were greeted by a track which was flowing, yet technical in places, rewarding drivers with accurate consistent driving. A new control tyre and additive was implemented for this year and both seem popular with all the drivers with Sweep 32 EXP combo working better the more it is used. The majority of drivers found they went faster the older the tyres were, which is always a good sign for a long lasting tyre, which is one reason it was chosen for the championship. Congratulations go to Elliott Harper taking victory over Chris Kerswell and David Bowen. Ultimately Elliott ended up dominating the day with his new Xray T3 and took TQ by 1.6 seconds over Chris Kerswell and David Bowen, but went on to win all 3 finals comfortably. In TC3 Malc Hall took the win from Philip Randall and Azman Sulaiman. Malc Took TQ over Phil “the power” Randall by roughly 3 seconds and was the only driver to reach 25 laps.
