Pillars appointed Kyosho Team manager

Following the recent departure of Ryan Lutz from Kyosho, to move to Tamiya, the Kyosho Team manager role has been passed onto Team Orion Team manager Joe Pillars. Joe sent us the following statement:

I would first like to wish former Kyosho Team Manager/Factory Driver Ryan Lutz the best of luck with his new job and direction in racing. It sounds like he received a great offer and he deserves everything he gets. It has been great to work with Ryan here at Kyosho for the past year. He is a great guy on and off the track and any team would be lucky to have him. Taking over the role of Kyosho America’s Team Manager is a great honor and I am very happy to be chosen for this position. I would also like to say thanks to Joel Johnson for this great opportunity. Kyosho is one of the most successful R/C companies to date with a great name in this industry for high quality products and a history of winning.

There was a big surprise in the opening Leg of the A-Main here in Thailand with Masami Hirosaka taking the win after title favourites Atsushi Hara and Marc Rheinard touched on the third lap allowing the Yokomo driver to take an early lead. Hara TQ’s World Championships

Although he’s a former World Champion he had never before TQ’d even a single round of qualifying at the bi annual event, but here in Thailand its a very different story for Atsushi Hara. Winning the final qualifier to confirm he will start tomorrow’s A Mains from pole, the Japanese ace topped the time sheets on 4 of the 6 occassions with his great rival Marc Rheinard the only one to denying him total domination.

Hara dominates first Day of Qualifying

2000 World Champion Atsushi Hara sits in the overnight TQ position after dominating the opening day of qualifying for the Touring Car World Championships. Hara got his day off to the perfect start by topping the final practice and hasn’t looked back since, winning each qualifier in a faster time than the last. With three maximum scores to his credit, the current 1:8 Off Road World champion looks almost certain to start from the No.1 spot in Sunday’s A Mains. The only way the Hot Bodies/Team Orion driver can be denied this is if one of his rivals can win all three of tomorrow’s remaining heats and do so in a quicker time than the 19 laps in 05:09.045 he laid down in the third qualifier.

First round TQ honours for Hara

Atsushi Hara has TQ’d the opening round of qualifying for the 2008 Electric Touring Car Worlds.  Heading a trio of Hot Bodies at the top of the time sheets, the former Champion was the only driver to repeat a 19 lap run as higher temperatures made for slower track conditions.  Hara said his car was very stable and allowed him to run very consistent lap times but will make a few small changes for the second heat when conditions will be even hotter here at RCS.
