ATS to announce International signing

ATS Tyres to announce International Signing

We heard from our friends at ATS Tyres in Italy that they will soon be announcing a big International signing for the upcoming 1/10th scale 200mm World Championships in Portugal, which will take place in August. The decision to work together came about following the company’s performance at the Warm up race back in March, in which the top 3 finishers were all running ATS tyres and none had to make a tyre stop throughout the 1 hour final. We will learn more this week, but if you have any ideas as to who it may be, then drop your suggestion into the comments below.

Clive Connolly wins 2008 Irish Nationals

Clive Connolly wins 2008 Irish Nationals

Serpent are reporting on the 5th round of the Irish National Championships that saw Clive Connolly take the 2008 1/8 National Championship at the controls of his Serpent 960 ’08 despite one round remaining in the 6 round series. Starting from pole position Clive was able to cruise to victory, despite an early tyre stop, to win ahead of the Kyosho pairing of Colin Whelan and Austin Elliot.  Also racing in the 1:10 200mm National race on the same day, Connolly used his IDM powered 720 ’08 to claim a great victory over the Xray of Eoin Doran in what was one of the best 1:10 Touring Car races ever seen at the Dublin track. The 1:8 and 1:10 victories on the same day gave Connolly his third consecutive double National victory of the season.

Ed Kerry wins UK Truggy Pro Rd4

Ed Kerry wins UK Truggy Pro Rd4

The 4th round of the UK Truggy Pro Nationals took place at NORC Raceway near Durham in the North of England last weekend. Qualifying saw Losi racer Darren Bloomfield take the TQ spot ahead of Jamie Booth, Ed Kerry, Mike Cradock and Sambuca Taylor, these drivers being the only ones to achieve 8 laps. In the main final Cradock got shunted on the first lap, which knocked him down the running order, allowing Bloomfield to get his head down and open up a lap on the rest of the field by the time he came into the pits on lap 27, but unfortunately mechanical problems on the rear of his car meant he required more time in the pits and this allowed Booth to take over that the front. On lap 37 it looked like Booth had the race in the bag but suddenly mechnical failure had Jamie’s car limping and despite keeping the car going Ed Kerry could take over at the front and go on to win, while behind it was Ralls and a recovering Cradock, who sniffing a podium, pushed to catch the limping Booth and 2 laps from the end of the race the pair got passed and took 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Stefan Hanauer wins German 1/8th Nats

Stefan Hanauer wins German 1/8th Nats

The German 1/8th scale on road Nationals were run last weekend in Ettlingen, and it was Kyosho racer Stefan Hanauer that took the title. With so many International drivers in attendance such as Michael Salven, Oliver Mack, Robert Pietsch and Andreas Hammerl, the level was very high and the competition tough. Qualifying saw Shepherd racer, and current German Champion, Robert Pietsch take pole position ahead of Mugen driver Oliver Mack, with Philip Eberle and Stefan Hanauer completing the top 4. In the final Hanauer was able to come out on top following some changes at the top and despite some late race pressure from pole man Pietsch, Hanauer could hold onto to his lead to win. Pietsch ended the race 2 seconds behind the Kyosho racer with Shepherd boss Patrick Schäfer claiming 3rd, just 7 seconds up on 4th placed finisher Andreas Hammerl.
