Xray XB2 Graphite Extensions for Alu Steering Blocks

New from Xray for their XB2, XT2 and SCX are these Alu steering block graphite extensions. They allow for easy Ackermann position adjustment for fine-tuning on all surfaces and track conditions. The set of two extensions (left & right) is available in three options. The 1-slot extension gives most of steering and aggressivity from range of akerman plates.  The 2-slot extension turns outside wheels less, makes the car easier to drive, less aggressive and increases cornering speed.  The 3-slot extension turns outside wheels even less than 1 and 2, makes the car easier to drive, less aggressive and increases cornering speed.

FSEARA Final Round – Report

Mother Nature in Florida this year meant the finale of the Florida State Electric Auto Racing Association (FSEARA) onroad series concluded with three rounds of racing. A strong 80 entries travelled to the final round at Coral Spring RC Club with Saturday’s practice filled with plenty of laps and tons of traction until an afternoon rainout. On Sunday, the weather looked bad once again, however Chris Crowder on the mic kept the program running smoothly and 2 rounds of qualifying rounds and the mains were able to beat the weather.

The highlight battle of the weekend was 17.5 TC. With points leader Dave staying out of this race, the local track addict Furman Walker running his Awesomatix was able to dominate in qualifier. The only driver to run 27 laps in this class, it was so fast, he would have landed himself 3rd overall in Mod.

ENS announces new 1:8 Sport Class

Following discussions over the last few months, the organisers of the Euro Nitro Series have confirmed the addition of a new class to the popular on-road race series.  The 1:8 Sport class is intended to provide drivers with a cost-effective way to race in the series, utilising all the normal rules from the existing 1:8 Scale class, but with a restriction on ‘stock’ engines – keeping costs down and speeds more manageable!

The class already has popularity in Germany and Switzerland, and some drivers are even already choosing to use the ‘stock’ engines in the ENS.  At the most recent ENS event in Aigen, Roy Bakker set TQ and finished second overall in the Masters class, using the standard engine.

As well as this new class being a part of the full 2023 Season, the organisers have chosen to kick things off early and will add the category to the 2022 Finale in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands.

Maifield with the main win at The Wicked Weekend

The big offroad race action in the US over the weekend saw all the top drivers travel to Gainesville, Georgia, for Racetime Entertainment’s ‘The Wicked Weekend’, where Mugen’s Ryan Maifield was very much the man on form.  In qualifying the JConcepts driver would produce a TQ triple securing the top spot on the grid in Pro Nitro Truggy, E-Buggy and the big one Pro Nitro Buggy.  While the Truggy win would escape him, a great battle with Dakotah Phend seeing the TLR driver get ahead of him to come out on top, Maifield took both Buggy finals.  While TLR’s Ryan Cavalieri started P2 in the E-Buggy ahead of Kyosho’s Ryan Lutz, it was to be 5th place qualifier Phend who came through for second behind Maifield with 3rd going to Lutz.  In the Pro Nitro Buggy class, Maifield’s win came after a great battle that went the distance with second place qualifier Lutz.  HB Racing’s Mason Fuller completed the Top 3 ahead of team-mate Cole Ogden and Sworkz Joe Bornhorst.

Greiner retains European title after 2 year wait

Forced to wait two extra years due to the pandemic, 2019 1:10 200mm European Champion Dominic Greiner was able to successfully defend his title over the weekend with victory ahead of arch rival Dario Balestri.  Returning to the Gubbio circuit in Italy, the venue of his 2016 World Championship victory, retaining his European title comes as a huge boost for the German given 2022 is a World Championship year (Red RC will be travelling to Thailand to bring you extensive coverage from title battle).

After a successful & lengthy stint at Serpent, Greiner had switched to Patrizio Rossi’s Capricorn squad for the 2020 season but just as the world was forced into shut down due to Covid.  Having to wait so long to make his first major championship appearance for the Italian manufacturer, Greiner kicked off the 16th running of the EFRA European Championship with p4 in practice as Balestri set the pace for Infinity from up & coming Xray star Filippo Domanin and Dutch veteran Jilles Groskamp.

It wasn’t long however before Greiner hit the front to take the opening qualifier.  With some mistakes in Q2, Balestri going on to take that qualifier, he was back on top in Q3 & 4 to secure the overall Top Qualifier honours.  With 2 time EC champion Balestri booking his spot directly in the main 45-minute final by taking the Super Pole, he would be Greiner’s main challenger.  After initially applying pressure before making an early tyre stop, this would give Greiner an advantage he wouldn’t relinquish.  Posting the fastest lap of the final, he would win by over 10 seconds from the Italian.  Capricorn would enjoy a podium double with Thilo Diekman claiming third ahead of the Infinity of Carmine Raiola.

A well-known track from many ENS races in the past, and this time the electric elite of the ETS stopped in Austria to crown six race winners in the different racing classes at the Euro Touring Series. The weather was challenging, as the temperatures reached values above 30 degree Celsius every day. In the Matrix Modified class we saw spectacular racing with top speeds up to 120 km/h on the straightway.
