Ryan Lee wins South Korean Nats

Ryan Lee wins South Korean Nats

Xray have a report from the recent Korean 1/10th 200mm Nationals that saw the race win go to class débutante Ryan Lee. In qualifying it was Choi Nak Sung that took the pole position from Ahn Hyun Ho in 2nd, with Ryan Lee in 3rd and Goo Sung Mo 4th. Sunday’s racing saw the weather change for the worse with rain putting a damper on the event and giving the racers an extra challenge trying to protect their cars from the water. The main final saw Xray racer Ryan Lee dominate the entire race, taking the win from Jang Ji Hwan in 2nd and Kook Mu Sung in 3rd.

King & Lutz take 1-2 in RC Pro Series

King & Lutz take 1-2 in RC Pro Series

Kyosho America have been in touch to let us know that Cody King has won the popular RC Pro Series National Championship, followed in second place by Ryan Lutz, both running Sirio-powered Kyosho Inferno 777 WC Edition buggies. Even though he trailed in points coming into the Championship final, King led the most laps and won the final round, giving him enough points to capture the National Championship. Ryan Lutz, who TQ’ed both truck and buggy classes with wins in seven of the eight qualifying rounds, scored a third place finish in the buggy class. This gave Lutz enough points to secure the second position for Pro Series Championship, while Kyosho scored the top two spots in the championship with the Inferno 777 WC.

Bloomfield wins Panther Winter series Rd1

Bloomfield wins Panther Winter series Rd1

We received a report from the first round of this years Panther tyres and products supported Herts Nitro Winter series. With no practice in the morning and only 3 rounds of qualification with 2 counting, making no mistakes was very important. Darren Bloomfield took top honours with the quickest run of the day in round three with fellow Losi driver Mathew Perry in second and Karl Jackson for Kyosho in third. With the day light fading towards the end of the finals the racing looked incredibly fast. A bad start to the final from Darren put him to the back of the pack and this left Karl and David Crompton to battle for the win. At about the five minute mark Darren found himself back on equal terms with the top two fighting for the lead. Wheel to wheel racing with Karl down the main straight gave Darren the lead and he never looked back. Bruce Thompson took the chance in the ten minute final not to stop and this gave him the extra time he needed to take second spot in the final for Losi and Novarossi. The majority of drivers chose to use Komodo Dragon 2 tyres in soft compound but Darren preferred the additional steering gained from the Hedgehog.

Federations react to Exploding cells

Update on the Exploding cells

Following up on the decision by the Norwegian federation to stop all EP racing until the new year in response to the safety hazard of exploding NiMh cells, a number of other countries have also reacted, however so far not as strictly. Neighbours Sweden decided to just ban a certain batch of the offending IB4200 cells, as have Belgium, and racing will continue as normal, while the BRCA in the UK have advised their members on the best way to handle, use and charge NiMh cells. In the meantime the Intellect Battery Co. have now supplied the batch numbers which may contain cells that could potentially explode when subjected to race type conditions.
