Serpent sign Meen Vejrak & Charlee Phutiyotin

Serpent are excited to announce the signing of not one but two household names in the RC community, Meen Vejrak and Charlee Phutiyotin. With vast amounts of experience across a wide range of classes including a World Championship title, multiple World Championship Finals, TITC Champion, Thailand 1/8 Buggy Champion, ETS Finalist and Reedy Race Finalist, they will bring something special to the team. Meen had this to say about the new deal:

Serpent was one of the first names I’ve heard of when I was just beginning my career in car racing. I am excited to announce that from now on I will be representing this brand and become a part of the Factory Team. Thank you to the Serpent factory for this opportunity.

Louis Kretschmer joins Awesomatix Factory team

Awesomatix have announced the addition of German stock class driver Louis Kretschmer to their Factory Team. Louis is another ‘young gun’ in the Awesomatix Team and he will participate at the Euro Touring Series events, where he recently finished 4th overall, as well as local events in Germany like RCK and TOS races. Louis said ‘At this moment I am just thrilled to be part of the Awesomatix team. I’ve dreamed of working together this closely for years. This opportunity is a real pleasure for me and I hope to be an asset to the team. It will be a big milestone in my career that I will never forget. A big thank you to Max and Oleg for this opportunity. I hope I can get some good results for the team. See you on the racetrack!’

2021 XRS Italy onroad – Report

The 2021 edition of the XRS Italy on-road event was held at the beautiful facilities of Club Automodellistico 5 Colli in Gubbio, Italy. Some 110 entries in 5 different classes competed over the course of the weekend of 24-25th of July 2021. Perfect weather conditions, and a great atmosphere was present all throughout the event. The modified TC class was won by the world champion Bruno Coelho, followed by Alexander Hagberg, and Xray team manager and designer Martin Hudy in 3rd. Bad luck struck the 3rd qualifier, Alessio Menicucci, who dropped down the order in the finals.

Schumacher Outdoor Off Road Masters Rd2 – Report

This past weekend was the second round of the newly organised SOOM series, there was once again a great entry of drivers in the 2wd class on Saturday. The entries for 4wd on Sunday were a little lower than we had hoped for, mainly due to several racers having to cancel due to Covid restrictions. The race format was round by round qualifying, with the best 2 results from 4 rounds of qualifying counting towards the final position. There is usually 1 final for all competitors and 3 leg A finals. However due to the lower entry numbers in 4wd, we decided to have 3 leg finals for everyone, so more racing and track time. This was well received by the racers. The Mendip crew had designed a fantastic track layout for our event, a huge thank you to them all for their hard work and dedication.

BRCA Clubmans Rd3 WLRC – Report

Round 3 of the BRCA Clubman’s was hosted at West London Racing Centre in Hillingdon last weekend. The weather fortunately held out for this meeting with torrential rain predicted, which only arrived once some excellent racing had finished. With a very good entry of 43 drivers in the 17.5 Blinky class we were in for some close racing with many of the country’s top drivers present. Schumacher driver Andy Murray was the man to beat, but after taking 3 round wins he was proving unstoppable as he lined up P1 for the final. After 2 torrid A final legs it was a clean sweep for Andy making it a perfect day’s racing taking the win ahead of the Xray’s of Ben Cane and Soteris Lisai.

Schumacher GP Italy – Race Report

The 2021 edition of the Schumacher GP Italy took place at the beautiful outdoor track of Minicar Fontanellato near Parma and saw solid participation with available places being sold out some time before the race. In Touring Car Modified, Team Schumacher’s Mattia Collina, won a thrilling race from the TQ ahead of Alessio Tolomelli (Awesomatix) and Luca Torreggiani (Xray).

The Dirt at Perris Grand Opening Race – Announcement

For the first time in 15 years The Dirt Racing is going back to its roots and opening a track again. ‘The Dirt at Perris’ is the new venture for The Dirt Racing and the Grand Opening Race is this weekend, Saturday and Sunday July 31at/Aug 1st. The track will be open for its first day on Friday the 30th for paid practice from Noon – 8pm. “We are so excited to bring to be back in SoCal with our own track and facility. We hope to bring awesome track design mixed with a good vibe and atmosphere to the Socal racing community. Our plan is to be open for practice weekly and race once a month, Calendar to be set after this weekend.”

BRCA 1/8 Circuit Halifax Rd3 – Report

The newly resurfaced Halifax circuit hosted round 3 of the BRCA 1/8 Circuit series, the new surface and facilities providing the UK with a circuit up there with the best in Europe thanks to all the hard work of John Russell and club members. Many drivers had arrived before the weekend to test on the new surface with a mixed forecast due, Saturday morning saw downpours resulting in controlled practice being turned into open practice as it began to dry mid-way through the afternoon. Drivers managed to all get a few dry runs in later on and it was usual guys at the front with many different chassis being used in the Nitro class such as Serpent, Capricorn, Shepherd, Mugen, ARC and Xray. The Electric class is still being dominated by Capricorn and Serpent but was good to see Bob Harley running Xray. Around 40 drivers were competing at this event.
