Burak Kilic doubles at OWL Messe Cup

The OWL Messe Cup was held in Bad Salzuflen, Germany over the weekend. Organised by the MCC Silixen club and held as part of a hobby fair the event attracted some of the fastest drivers from Germany to compete in several electric off-road classes. In the premier 1/8th E-Buggy class it was Agama’s Burak Kilic that came out fastest after the triple 10-minute A-mains. Coming from the 2 spot on the grid the young man at first suffered from missing Friday’s practice sessions due to school duties but he made up for it in the mains, taking the overall win from Thunder Tiger driver and 2016 Messe Cup winner, Marvin Fritschler, and Burak’s brother Berkan Kilic (Agama).

Essex Winter Series Rd4 – Report

The penultimate round of the Essex Winter Series championship took place this weekend at the popular venue in South-East England. Despite the freezing temperatures outside, the fully heated hall and pits saw most racers resorting to t-shirts and the track groove up quickly. With Championship leader, and winner of all three events so far, Elliott Harper on international duty for Schumacher, others would be hoping to take advantage and a useful points haul from the day. Olly Jefferies would be the one to make the most of that – despite tough competition, the Xray driver went on to top all four of the qualifying rounds. However, behind Olly, tight battles for the remaining A-final places raged throughout each run. Infinity’s Andy Moore, running the Infinity prototype touring car for the first time in the UK, was Olly’s closest challenger in the opening qualifier, ahead of Olly’s Xray team mate Alexander Hagberg, the Team Associated cars of Chris Grainger and Alan Bickerstaff, and Kyle Branson, also running the new Infinity car.

Cavalieri claims fourth Reedy Race win

Ryan Cavalieri has claimed a fourth Reedy Race of Champions title, the Team Associated driver winning the title showdown between himself and his great rival Ryan Maifield.  With the pair separated by a single point, Maifield having the advantage going into the 12th and final round of heads up racing, and the two Ryans lining up in the same race that would close the 23rd running of the legendary race the stage set for the ultimate showdown at the OCRC Raceway hosted event. With Cavalieri on pole and Maifield lining up directly behind him, the script was perfect but while Maifield would set chase on Cavalieri getting by the No. 2 starting Spencer Rivkin, the fairytale Yokomo debut was not to be. Struggling to keep up with Cavalieri, something obviously wrong with his car, Maifield would eventually go out with a front shock failure ending his quest for a second Reedy Race title.  With his only threat gone, Cavalieri could cruise to his 6th win of the event to win by a single point, yet another Reedy Race title.  While it was the seasoned package that won, the podium indicated an exciting season lies ahead as another of the new team debutants Ty Tessmann secured 3rd for Xray.
