Malin Karlsen wins at Norwegian EP Buggy Nats Rd4

Round four of the Norwegian 1/10th Electric Buggy Nationals was held in Levanger, Norway. The race for the win in the 2WD class was on between Malin Karlsen (Xray) and Roy Gjemble (Schumacher), the latter would eventually take the overall TQ and pole position for the triple A-mains. A1 then saw Roy taking a pretty easy win following some bobbles of Malin but the young lady would strike back in A2 when Roy made a mistake in the opening stages that allowed Malin to cruise to the win, shifting the decision for the overall win into A3. The final A-main then again saw Malin coming out fastest after she managed to force Roy into a small error to take the win from Roy in second and Steffen Hjortshoj (Schumacher) in third.

Ryan Lutz trifecta at SikCross 2016

Ryan Lutz trifecta at SikCross 2016

This past weekend the Pro-Line test track in Banning, California held the famous SikCross event. This was the second annual event put on by Levi Jackson and as per usual, the event was unique. There were three qualifiers with each one counting and points were given on how high racers have finished their race. The races were heads-up, gate start and super exciting moto cross style legs. But qualifying didn’t mean much as it just allowed the pick of gate position. The nitro mains were also unique in that they were basically a typical 45 minute A-main but broken up into three, 15-minute races back to back with 5-minute breaks in between. This break allowed for a change of tyres or air filter or if a driver happened to have a mechanical failure as there was another chance in the next one. All three counted and so every position was paramount.

Ron Ton, RC Industry pioneer, has passed away

Ron Ton passed away

It is with deep sadness that we report the passing of one of the RC industry’s true pioneers, Ron Ton. Co-founder of Serpent as well as a competitive racer in his day, the Dutchman invented a whole host of innovative products including the Centax clutch and the 2-speed gearbox, just to name a few, and it is a testament to his engineering ability that both of these inventions are still are in use today, some 3 decades later. Red RC would like to express our condolences to the Ton family.
