Victory for Nagashima at Rd5 of OneTen series

Making it a clean sweep, Yugo Nagashima has won all 3 A-mains at the fifth round of the OneTen series in Shanghai. The Serpent driver was never threatened in the 2nd final and could win easily to take the overall, while in the last final JJ could have a go at Yugo but couldn’t make the pass stick after contact forced him to relinquish the spot, the American eventually coming home 2nd overall. Despite a bad last final, where he finished down in 7th, Rocket Zhang could take the final podium spot in 3rd, winning the tie break with Motor King, thanks to his faster 3rd place finish. Behind Motor King, Gary Huang ended the day in 5th with Stick King, making the trip from Hong Kong, taking 6th. With very little to say about what was an uneventful 3 finals, Yugo was already focussed on tomorrow trying a new shock setup for A3 which he says has potential but needs a bit of work.

A1 in Shanghai goes to Yugo Nagashima

It was clear win for Yugo Nagashima in the opening A-main here at RCI V2 for the 5th round of the OneTen Series presented by Infinity. The Serpent driver took the lead from the start and was never headed for the remainder of the final. JJ Wang kept him honest for a while as he started to catch him but hit the curbs coming through the chicane and dropped back, coming home in 2nd, some 3 seconds back. Motor King would take third, benefitting from a strange crash on the straight by Rocket Zhang early in the race, the Serpent driver recovering to take 4th just ahead of Gary Huang in 5th. In what was a fairly straight forward race, Yugo described it as ‘Easy’ with ‘no need to push and no pressure’, a ‘very safe run’.

Nagashima claims TQ at fifth round of OneTen at RCI

Yugo Nagashima is the top qualifier for the 5th round of the OneTen series presented by Infinity. The Serpent driver wrapped up the top qualifying spot with his second round TQ in Q2 but only took 2nd in the 3rd and final 6 minute qualifier. The 3rd round of qualifying went to his Serpent team mate Rocket Zhang who as a result will now line up in 2nd on the grid for this afternoon’s triple 4-minute mains. JJ Wang will line up in 3rd for Xray just ahead of Yokomo driver Motor King with Gary Huang completing the top 5. Asked about his qualifying, Yugo said that in the 2nd qualifier he made a small mistake and hit the curb which allowed JJ to lead but once he regained his rhythm he could go to the top of the times again. Happy with the setup of his car in Q2, for Q3 he tried something completely different but it wasn’t as good and will revert to the previous setup for the finals.

Nagashima takes first qualifier in Shanghai

Yugo Nagashima has taken the opening round of qualifying in the Infinity Modified class at the 5th round of the OneTen series in Shanghai. The Serpent driver was 1 and a half seconds up on Xray driver JJ Wang, with the American a further 2 seconds up on local Serpent driver Rocket Zhang in 3rd. Coming from the 2nd fastest heat, it was Motor King who headed the Yokomo effort in 4th while Stick King completed the top 5, making it a solid start for Serpent. Describing his first run as ‘ok, but big push’, Nagashima will look to make a change for Q2 but conceded that any changes made on this track seem to make no difference to the overall feel of the car. A fan of the RCI V2 track, having won the AOC here last year, Yugo said that JJ is fast but he believes he has the pace to beat the US driver if he can tweak the setup further.

The heart is not controlled .. My past but now also my present and my future. Against all temptations, forecasts, I made this choice, the choice of happiness. It could not be otherwise when he is surrounded by people who respect the person before the driver. For me, the Serpent world has always been this. Friendship and respect. I am happy and I can’t wait to get excited again driving a Serpent. Thank you for asking me, thank you for reopening the doors of the house as if it were nothing. I dreamed of writing it from the first day I went away .. I’m back!
