Mark Sousa doubles at NY Winter Championship

Makintraxx RC of Rush, New York hosted the 2019 New York Winter Championship last weekend, attracting nearly 240 entries. In the 2WD Mod Buggy class it was Aaron Kothman with the overall TQ, however it was Mark Sousa who brought home the win after the triple A-main events thanks to 1-2-1 finishes. Aaron would have to settle for 2nd overall after scoring a DNF in A3. Kyra Bach would complete the top 3 results.

Xray XB2 rear anti-roll bar set

Coming from Xray and made for their popular XB2 series of off-road buggies is a 1.0mm rear anti-roll bar set. Gearbox-mounted the swaybar helps to plant the rear of the vehicle in high-grip racing conditions, making for faster cornering and quicker lap times. The set includes all needed hardware including a 1.0mm anti-roll bar wire with thicker wires, for the use in higher grip conditions, being available separately. The set is usable for the XB2’20, XB2’19, XB2’18, XB2’17, and XB2’16.

Serpent SRX8GT magnesium optionals

Serpent have introduced their new line of magnesium optionals for the SRX8GT 1/8th GT kit. Developed not only with the upcoming IFMAR World Championships in mind, the parts scrub over 30 percent of weight compared to the standard aluminium items while offering different flex characteristics than alloy. A white surface coating makes the parts stand out while protecting them from corrosion. Available now are the main chassis plate, rear hubs, the FF, FR, RF and RR suspension mounts, upper and lower engine mounts as well as the pinion mount. When combined, the parts scrub over 150g of weight in comparison to the standard kit alloy parts.

Xtreme Racing Rustler & Slash drag chassis kit

Xtreme Racing have introduced their new drag racing chassis that allows to convert the Traxxas Rustler and Slash 2WD trucks in to a 2-cell no-prep drag racing car. Designed off Xtreme Racing’s LCG Slash chassis the narrowed down drag racing variant reduces the overall weight while extending the wheelbase compared to the standard Rustler specifications. The set includes the carbon fibre main chassis, top deck and ESC mount, battery straps, battery strap holders, small and large standoffs as well as steering post and servo mounts. Not included are the donor truck parts, low-profile shock towers and low-profile shocks visible in the full car image you can find after the break.

T-Works roll out new EB410.2 optionals

T-Works have announced the release of new optional parts for the Tekno RC EB410.2 1/10th scale 4WD buggy. First up is a 64 grade titanium shock standoff set that replaces the standard steel parts for lighter yet sturdy items that also add some visual impact due to their natural silver colour finish. The standoffs come in sets of four and due to their lower weight, they will help to lower the buggy’s overall centre of gravity which helps especially in high-bite track conditions.

Exotek 22 5.0 2-colour aluminium motor plate

Exotek have introduce their new 2-colour aluminium motor plate for the TLR 22 5.0 off-road platform utilising laydown gearboxes. The customised polished black base with silver chamfered accents stands out with its bright silver edges to match the new 5.0 look. The built-in gear cover is stronger than the stock plastic cover to ensure that the body does not press the cover onto the spur gear in hard tumbles and included with the lightweight motor plate, that weighs in at 11g, is an alloy gearbox spacer. The motor plate is usable with all TLR 22 5.0 and 22 4.0 series buggies and trucks using the laydown transmission.

Mibosport Cup Rd3 – Report

The third round of the 2019/20 Mibosport Cup was held last weekend at its usual venue, the Hotel Sport in Hrotovice, Czech Republic. The event marked the season climax and the final round of this year with everyone being in Christmas mood already. Getting to the venue was less of a fun affair due to icy road conditions on Friday, this however did not affect action on the track as more than 200 drivers from as far as the UK and Denmark found their way to the Czech Republic. Both the on-road and off-road tracks were ready on Friday so the free practice starting at 4 o’clock in the afternoon would kick off with no issues. The grip level was enormous so there was some room to improve setup somehow to adapt to conditions. In the premier on-road class of Touring Car Modified Matej Sulc cemented his role as the pre-event favourite and showed just the rear part of his car. Mads Koue, coming all the way from Denmark, ended up with a nice 2nd place right in front of Kuba Simurda. Brano Panak was another surprise as he finished 4th and Petr Grof completed the top 5.

STRC Racing Concepts roll out new Enduro optionals

Coming from ST Racing Concepts and made for the Element RC Enduro trail trucks are several new optional parts. First up is the CNC machined brass diff cover that adds almost 34 grams of weight to the lowest part of the truck’s drive axles for more stability and durability. The cover sports a black surface treatment with a laser-engraved logo for a great look. For those that are looking for a more brilliant look on the drive axles while improving the precision and durability, anodised aluminium versions are also available.
