Richards, Due & Alex K. win Mod classes at Motorama

The 2017 Motorama was held this past weekend at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex. Considered to be the biggest indoor motorsport event in America, this event has it all from Arenacross, Go Kart racing, Quarter Midgets, RC 1/8th and 1/10th electric racing, RC Demolition Derby, RC Scaling, Car show, Speed show, Robot Conflict, and even a Ms. Motorama beauty pageant. On the RC side of things, this event was organized and hosted by two of the industry’s best RDs … Scotty Ernst and Charlie Suangka. With their expertise, unique style and experience, the show was amazing and both tracks were built with dedication and heart to ensure everyone would have a wonderful time. The tracks were amazing and a pleasure to drive on as the event had over 660 combined entries making it one of the largest races in the nation. The 1/10th scale track was greatly improved from the previous years with better dirt that was consistent and easy to work with. It had what many would call, the “old-school dirt” feel as it was a loamy, natural sifted dirt track. Cars would slide and drift, but traction was there as long as you were on the line.

JConcepts Strike 3 RC8B3 buggy bodyshell

JConcepts have introduced the Strike 3 bodyshell for the Team Associated RC8B3 buggy. Sampling elements from the Finnisher, Silencer and Striker bodies it packs a slightly refined image. The base enhancements to the design come from the parallel to chassis side-pods, that look traditional with 1/8th buggies of the past. A large rear-end winglet has been added to aid in the rear traction stability as well as stopping force. The offset of the race-proven shell provides a compact fit for the fuel tank, linkage and air filter assembly and the heavy channelling on the front windshield keeps the Strike 3 aligned at high speeds while the sidepods have multiple hard-edge angles that spill off neatly into 90 degree side panels. Just behind the engine head, a sleek up-rising flows from the body like running water and a sharp rise in the rear wicker blocks flow to the rear tower and redirects to the rear wing area. The clear body set includes window templates and a decal sheet.

Dave Crompton wins at UK Winter Series

Pendle in the UK recently held a round of their Winter series and in qualifying Dave Crompton would walk away with the TQ from Ashlee Owen and Mick Butler. Going into finals Ashlee started clean but Dave pulled away. Ashlee continued to push hard as the conditions become more slippery with the falling rain and before the second fuel stop, Dave ran out of fuel, providing Ashlee with an opening to contend for the win. Up until the second to last lap Ashlee managed to hold onto to the lead until traffic caused him some issues in the very late stages, handing Dave the win from Ashlee and Mick, who ran an electric-powered buggy.
