Shay Brand successful at Halloween Havoc Retro Race

Shay Brand successful at Halloween Havoc Retro Race

This past weekend Loganville RC Speedway hosted the Halloween Havoc Retro Race. Instead of IFMAR style qualifying, the organizers went back to the old school gate starts. It was really fun to experience the gate starts again, and really made for some exciting qualifiers. There were also no Pro and Sportsman classes, it was just Buggy and Truggy with the event attracting around 85 entries. In the Buggy class and after some crazy qualifying, Team Associated’s Shay Brand took the TQ. In the main, Shay was able to get a pretty good start, but got shuffled around a little after a few turns. He was able to find his way back to the front though and never looked back to take the overall win for the race.

Malin Karlsen takes OMK Fall Classic title

Malin Karlsen takes OMK Fall Classic title

The eight and final round of the OMK Fall Classic title was recently held at the OMK astro turf track. As usual the race format was three rounds of qualifying with triple mains and much like the previous round the track was once again soaking wet and in combination with the low temperatures traction was really low. Malin Karlsen (Xray) took all qualifiers in style to grab the pole position for the A-mains. Malin was also in control of things in the opening A-main despite some bobbles due to the slippery surface but she walked away with a convincing first win of the evening. A2 then was a different affair as, after opening a small gap on the field, she got caught out by a pipe after loosing traction, causing her to loose the lead and also valuable time. Getting her head down she quickly was able to fight for the lead again but the leader would not be easy to pass, so Malin waited until what she thought was the final lap to make an attack at the table top jump leading into the last corner and she even managed to win the drag race to the finish line until both realised that they crossed the finish line tenth of a second before the time was up. With her opponent realising the fact earlier Malin had to settle for second in leg 2. For A3 Malin decided to make up for the confusion earlier so she laid down a flawless run to take the win almost a lap ahead of the field to take the win, the overall victory at round eight and with it the OMK Fall Classic title. Marius Kristensen (Serpent) would end the day on the two spot from Morten Bremsrud (Team Associated) in third.

Infinity TLR 22 3.0 carbon fibre rear shock tower brace

Infinity TLR 22 3.0 carbon fibre rear shock tower brace

Coming from X Factory’s Infinity line of option parts is a new carbon fibre rear shock tower brace for laydown converted TLR 22 3.0 buggies. Initially developed by J.P. Richards, it moves the shocks to the front of the rear arms and has many advantages over the standard layout. By moving the somewhat heavy shocks forward, their weight is closer to the centre of gravity which can give a huge advantage in a range of track conditions. The carbon fibre brace also stiffens the tower and forward shocks control the motion of the arms better. According to Richards the car jumps better with the stiffer tower and better arm control. It pushes off the jump face better and lands better. It is also more consistent in corners, especially on-power during exit. The car can be driven harder through every corner and over every jump. The set includes the carbon fibre shock tower brace as well as all needed mounting hardware.
