MRC Vianen Cup Rd4 – Report

The fourth round of the 6-race MRC Vianen Cup was held this past Sunday in Vianen, The Netherlands. The purpose-built indoor carpet track was only built on Sunday morning but with the help of the drivers the task was carried out in only 30 minutes. Classes offered were Touring 17.5T blinky with Turnigy 17.5T motors and open tyres, a Tamiya TT category for TT-01 and TT-02 chassis, a Tamiya M-Chassis class as well as a Formula category run with Hobbywing 21.5T motors and Ride tyres. The race format would be double 6-minute qualifiers and triple 6-minute mains.

Regalado & Apolaro win at Forgass State Series

The Forgass State Series was hosted by Full Throttle Raceway this past weekend and in the 1/8th Nitro Open class it was top qualifier, Roniel Regaldo who walked away with the win in the 30-minute main final from Joe Sumansky in second and Chuck Moon third. 1/10th 200mm Touring had DJ Apolaro taking the TQ and win with Chay Blount coming in second, some three laps down. Another three laps short of Chay, Frank Vega would round out the top 3 result.

Muchmore Impact 1800mAh LiFe TX & RX battery pack

Muchmore have introduced the Impact 1800mAh 6.6V LiFe battery pack for transmitter and receiver applications. The flat-type pack measures 85x27x18mm and fits most 1/8th and 1/10th nitro vehicles that utilise flat-type receiver batteries and it is also usable with transmitters that accept 6V input. The battery is made from robust 1800mAh cells, it comes pre-wired with a JR-style universal plug and a XH balance connector and is it usable with standard voltage compatible receivers and servos.

Viktor Wilck takes Swedish Indoor Nationals title

This past weekend the Swedish Indoor Nationals were held at the new Hässleholm track with a total of 70 drivers competing in the three classes of Touring Car, 1/12th scale and Formula. The entry list saw names such as local star Daniel Carlsson and national aces like Marcus Hellqvist, Fabian Vernersson, Jonas Andersson and Viktor Wilck. In the Touring class qualifying Wilck would TQ all rounds to line up in 1st for the finals followed by Hellqvist and Carlsson. Wilck would then also dominate the finals but a miss fortune with a lapped car in A2 kept tension high until the last final. Wilck would then cruise to a solid victory in front of Hellqvist who took the vice championship title, while Daniel Carlsson would take 3rd to complete the podium.

Hitec D9 series 32-bit metal case servos

Coming from Hitec are three new D9 series 32-bit metal case servos. The D941TW (0.07s/16.5kg-cm), D946TW (0.10s/23.0kg-cm) and D951TW (0.14s/35.0kg-cm) all feature 32-bit micro controller units and 12-bit analog to digital converters to maximises the servos’ performance for optimised response and feel. The wide voltage compatible standard-size units can be powered by 4.8V to 7.4V input, they feature highly durable titanium gears, full-metal servo cases and they are fully programmable to fine-tune functions such as end point adjustments, direction, fail save, dead band, speed (slower), soft start rate, and overload protection.

Tamiya TRF419X WS touring car kit

Already all over the internet before the recent Nuremberg International Toyfair but officially announced only now is Tamiya’s forthcoming TRF419X WS 1/10th electric touring car. The kit is based off of the standard 419X but it includes a 2.0mm aluminium main chassis and a 1.75mm carbon fibre upper deck, aiming it towards racing on high-grip surfaces such as carpet and prepped asphalt tracks. Apart from the chassis and topdeck the features of the kit remain the same as found on the 419X and it will hit stores by the end of April.

Collari caps off Infinity test with tough Singapore win

Lamberto Collari capped off a successful pre-season Infinity team test with a tough victory at the opening round of the Singapore GP Onroad National Series. Travelling to the Marine Paradise Radio Control Modellers Club track to capitalise on the Singapore hot weather, Collari and the rest of the Infinity team’s participation made for the Singapore event’s most high profile entry to-date. In the 45-minute final, the Italian, who qualified 7th, enjoyed a great battle with team-mate Takaaki Shimo. At the end of 152 laps, the two stalwarts of 1:8 battling hard for the duration of the race, just 0.179 separated them. Completing the podium, Jilles Groskamp would finish 3rd a lap down on the lead battle. Making his Infinity race debut, Dario Balestri was Top Qualifier ahead of Groskamp but the race would go less well and he would finish 6th. Surprising Naoto Matsukura showed good nitro skills qualifying fourth and also set the fastest lap of the final but he had to retire with 7 minutes remaining.

Matrix welcomes Thilo Tödtmann

Matrix Racing Tires have announced the signing of 1/10th 200mm class specialist, Thilo Tödtmann to their World Factory racing team. ENS podium finisher and multiple main finalist, the German frontrunner, who recently also signed with Shepherd, will use Matrix tires in all open tire races while also helping with product development.
