Ryan Lutz wins 2019 DXR Dirt Kings race

The 2019 DXR Dirt Kings race was held held at the Harper Adams University in Shropshire, UK over the weekend, attracting some of the world’s fastest 1/8th nitro off-road racers. Team Associated’s Davide Ongaro would sweep the Nitro Buggy qualifiers with a clean 800 points score, followed by Agama’s Ryan Lutz in 2nd, tie on points with Kyosho’s Joao Figueiredo. New SWorkz signing, Elliott Boots and teammate Juan Carlos Canas would follow in 4th and 5th, again tie on points. The 45-minute main final than would see a very close outcome with Ryan Lutz taking a slim 2.5 seconds win from Davide in 2nd while Juan Carlos came in 3rd, only ten seconds behind Davide. Agama’s Burak Kilic and SWorkz’s Elliott Boots came in 4th and 5th, already two laps down.

Jackson Andres sweeps 2018/19 NIS

The fifth and final round of the 2018/19 Northwest Indoor Series was once again hosted by Tacoma R/C Raceway in Washington. This 5-race series would begin at the end of 2018 and would go through April of 2019. Each round of the series would see many of the best drivers that the Northwest has to offer. With each drivers four best finishes out of 5 counting, there was no room for error in this extremely competitive series. After the dust had finally settled from this intense 6-month series, it was Yokomo USA team driver Jackson Andres taking the impressive overall series championships in both the premier 2WD and 4WD Modified Buggy classes.

Absima Summer Championship Rd1 – Report

The Absima Summer Championship was opened with brilliant sunshine and brilliant racing at the Coastal Model Car Club this weekend. A bumper entry rolled through the gates to fight it out for the first round. First up it was the touring cars, and after a scare with a breakage in practice Adrian Dew dominated the results by winning all the qualifiers and finals, although there was some great action for the lead with both Jason Scott and Attila Hadji.

Reedy Blackbox 1000Z+ Pro sensored brushless ESC

Team Associated have introduced the new Reedy 1000Z+ Pro censored brushless competition speed controller. The simple to use, yet powerful ESC offers versatile features that make it suitable for both Modified and Spec class racers. Excellent throttle and brake feel, a wide range of adjustability, and robust hardware make the Blackbox 1000Z+ PRO an excellent choice for a variety of racing applications. Improving upon the 1000Z+ it replaces, the 1000Z+ Pro features a CNC-machined top case with an integrated heat sink, fan port, and bolt pattern suitable for an optional 30mm fan. Additional Drag Brake, Drive Frequency, and Max Brake Strength settings option have been added to allow for even greater fine tuning. A more reliable Power button, shared with the 510R ESC, doubles as a selection button for settings changes. However, by popular demand, the option to make settings changes using the optional Black PROgrammer2, has been added.

Nicolas Bregante wins at Metropolitan Championship Rd3

The third round of the Metropolitan Championship was held at the Hernan Matticoli Circuit in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Off-road specialist Nicolas Bregante had one of his few on-road outings and was very fast from the get-go despite missing practice due to work commitments. Counting round TQs in Q2 and Q3 secured him the overall TQ and starting from pole position allowed him to take the wins in the opening two A-mains for the overall. Ezequiel Forgaral ended the day on the runner-up spot and in front of Luciano Capel in 3rd.

Nico Schmid doubles at Swiss Champs Rd2

The second round of the Swiss Electric Off-road Championship was held at the Islikon indoor track. The race would mark the final race event at the popular location that will close its door permanently after the Easter weekend. Racing-wise it was Nico Schmid who took wins in the 2WD and 4WD Modified Buggy classes, leaving behind his brother Florian in 2nd place in both categories. Kay Fehner snatched the final podium spot in 2WD while Philip Jeisy rounded out the top 3 in 4WD, making it all-Xray top 3 podiums in both categories.

Urban Touring Series Rd3 – Report

Round 3 of the 2019 Urban Touring Series took place this past Sunday at Urban’s rooftop PlaySpace raceway. Despite forecasts of rain, an enthusiastic grid of close to 30 racers turned up to pit themselves against one another in the Touring Car 17.5T Blinky and Formula classes. In the TC Class, it was Nicholas Lee who would take overall TQ by topping Q1 and Q2. Dominic Quek would have to settle for a P2 start in the A-Main. Sean Lee had a great qualifying to snatch P3 from Esmail Apandi who made some uncharacteristic mistakes during his runs. Wee EC and Hasron Robana would take the last two direct spots in the A-main, and would be eventually joined by Sebastian Lee and Chhua Joo Kiah bumping up.

Hobiland Race of Champions – Report

The Hobiland Race of Champions was held at the SDC offroad track in Serpong, Indonesia. The event attracted 40 entries for the 1/10th 2WD Modified and 2WD Stock as well as the 4WD Buggy and 4WD SC Truck classes. In 2WD Buggy, Bowie Ginting secured the TQ, ahead of Ariatenna and Dimaz Arianto in 2nd and 3rd respectively. Over in the 4WD class, Rizky Pradana secured the TQ after winning the first and second qualifying round and in front of Arief Budiman and Yusuf Zulkarnain.
