BMT 801 Pro series GP & EP buggies

BMT have introduced their new 801 Pro nitro and 801EP Pro electric buggy kits. Both build on a hard anodised 7075 aluminium chassis for strength and they utilise sturdy drivetrain components including front and rear CV-design driveshafts, steel gears, and the GP car also uses Ferodo-clad brake pads in order to provide fading-free stopping performance. The suspension areas of both the nitro and electric-powered buggy are made up using long travel suspension components with the A-arms being reinforced by detachable carbon fibre plates, the shock absorbers are of a 17mm diameter big bore design for exceptional damping and the front and rear shock towers are made up of 4mm/3mm machined aluminium. Front and rear anti-roll bars round out the suspension package. Dust-proof RC boxes ensure the receiver and receiver battery stay away from the elements and while the EP car comes including a spacious battery compartment, the GP car includes a competition clutch system and air filter. Included with the unassembled kits also come clear body shells.

Reedy Sonic S-Plus 25.5 motor

Reedy’s Sonic S-Plus motor is now available in a version that meets ROAR’s unique guidelines for 25.5 turn motors typically used in Formula and VTA racing classes. Maximum power output is achieved thanks to near-minimum resistance measurements and a high-strength balanced rotor. In addition to increased power output, reduced weight improves handling and chassis-turning flexibility. Additionally, the motor’s length has been shortened by more than 2mm, which aids left/right balance and moves mass towards the centre of the chassis. Finally, precision stainless steel ball bearings have been fitted to accommodate high RPM loads with exceptional efficiency and reliability.

The British Off-Road Grand Prix 2019 also known as the MK GP was held in Milton Keynes this past weekend. The race is held in the super-sized MK shopping centre, a superb location with approx. 100,000 visitors per day, and organised by the capable Silverstone RCMCC. With 180 plus entries and several of Europe’s very best professional RC racers in attendance the MK GP was always going to be the ‘must-attend’ event for the major manufacturers for the main 1/10th off-road 2WD and 4WD Buggy classes, making it possibly the biggest off-road event taking place in the UK this year. The track looked relatively simple from the side-lines, but clearly as each heat of drivers took to the track the difficulties became clear – getting a smooth, trouble free 5x minute qualifier would be hard to achieve.
