Jeff Hamon TQs & wins at Australian TC Track Champs

The 2018 Australian IC Track Championships were held in Melbourne, hosted by the MRCCR club. Changing weather made for some difficult conditions and it was Mugen’s Jeff Hamon who would manage to take the TQ in the 1/10th Nitro Touring class and he also came out on top in the 45-minute A-main event, taking the title some two laps in front of Shepherd’s own Thilo Tödtmann. Capricorn’s Steven Jovanovic came in 3rd from Peter Jovanovic 4th. Mugen’s Andrew Gillespie rounded out the top 5.

Bregante & Trigos win at Metropolitan Champs Rd5

The Circuito Hernan Matticoli track played host to the fifth round of the Metropolitan Championships recently. In the 1/8th Nitro GT class it was Xray’s Nicolas Bregante with the win from Lucas Lemes (HB Racing) in 2nd and IGGT8 driver Pato Cruseno in 3rd. Over in the Masters class it as a full Xray podium with Pedro Trigos taking the win from Damian Montiel and Dante Maximo Covino in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Marcos Abarca wins at OECC series Rd2

The RC ONIL track in Onil, Spain held the second round of the Offroad Electric Club Championship last weekend. The track proved to be very technical and due to hosting a round of the Spanish regional championships next year, a good turnout of racers made their entry including 4-times South African National Champion, Gary Briant. Marcos Abarca (Team Associated) took the TQ in the 2WD Buggy class after winning two of the three qualifying rounds followed by Ramón Oltra (Schumacher) and Jaime Casamayor (Team Associated). In the finals, Marcos was able to conserve his qualifying performance, taking a clear win in front of runner-up Ramón Oltra in 2nd and Jaime Casamayor in 3rd.

Josh Cyrul wins at U.S Indoor Championships

The 2018 U.S. Indoor Championships were held in Independence, Ohio last weekend in several electric on-road classes. In the hotly contested Formula category it was CRC’s Tom Firsching with the overall TQ but after the single 5-minute A-main it was Capricorn’s Josh Cyrul, coming from the 2 spot on the grid, who would snatch the title some 0.074 seconds in front of Tom. Only 0.5 second back, CRC’s Jeff Dayger rounded out the top 3 result.

HPI Racing Venture front universal driveshafts

HPI Racing have introduced a front universal driveshaft set for the Venture 1/10th scale off-road trucks. They add extra durability and functionality to the drivetrain. This set replaces the standard straight dogbones and axle drive cups of the front axle with a coupled option, making maintenance easier and strengthening the steering and drive line. The parts are machined from tough steel and built to take a beating.

HRC Racing 68110DL low-profile servo

Coming from HRC Distribution is the new HRC Racing 68110DL low-profile servo. Designed for 1/10th scale touring and off-road applications where precision, high speed and exceptional torque are required the standard voltage servo offers down to 0.08s of speed and a torque of up to 10.5kg-cm. The case is made up of upper and lower nylon fibre cases with the middle section being made of aluminium. A coreless motor and sturdy metal gears round out the package.

BMT 801 series nitro & electric RTR buggies

Italian company BMT has introduced the new 801 series nitro and electric ready-to-run buggies. Both utilise hard-anodised 7075 ergal chassis plates and 3-diff shaft drivetrains with front CVA driveshafts for great forward traction and efficiency. The fully adjustable suspension utilises 4mm aluminium shock stays and threaded 17mm aluminium big bore shock absorbers with 4mm shock shafts for exceptional rough track handling while front and rear anti-roll bars ensure crisp handling in high-bite track conditions. The nitro variant includes Ferodo-clad brake pads for best possible stopping performance and sealed receiver boxes ensure the electronics stay dry in wet weather conditions. The 801 nitro buggy comes equipped with a Hyper 21 Turbo nitro engine while the 801EP E-Buggy is propelled by a 2000kV Hobbywing motor and 100A-rated 4S LiPo-compatible speed controller, the latter also includes a programming card. Both cars are controlled by 14kg-cm Savöx steering servos and the sets are rounded off by 2.4GHz radio systems, pre-decorated body shells and grippy buggy tyres.

Yeah Racing SCX10 II stain steel skid plates

Made for Axial’s popular SCX10 II trail truck come new stainless steel differential protectors and a centre skid plate from Yeah Racing. The differential protector is usable on the front or the rear axle and it provides protection for the diff cases when the rock crawling action is getting serious. The pre-bend item is a direct fit to the AR44 axle and made of quality stainless steel. Also new is the centre stainless steel skid plate for Axial’s SCX10 II transmission plate. It will provide adequate protection from the trail and being in the lowest point of the chassis will give it a low centre of gravity.
