Reds Racing introduce new long “L” manifold

Reds Racing have expanded their off-road manifold range by adding the new long “L” manifold to the current medium, short and extra short offerings. Each manifold has been designed for different track conditions and to optimise performance. The new long version allows to increase the engine’s performance at low and medium RPM for a better throttle feeling. It is recommended for high grip tracks, however the top speed will be lower compared to the shorter manifolds.

RDRP B64, XB2 & XB4 titanium lower shock screw sets

Revolution Design Racing Products have introduced three sets of lower titanium shock screws for the Team Associated B64, as well as the Xray XB2 and XB4 series of buggies. The high-quality fasteners do away with the standard steel screws and they are of a shouldered design that only has threaded sections where they are needed, while areas to which the lower shock eyelet bushings attach are of a plain design for improved durability. The screw heads are also unique in the way that they feature dual 2mm and 5.5mm hex sections that allow to use 2mm hex or 5.5mm nut drivers to fasten or loosen the screws. Included in the sets are two front and two rear shock mounting screws.

JConcepts 2.2” Rangers MT tyres & Midwest wheels

Coming from JConcepts are the new 2.2” Rangers MT scale trees and Midwest 2.2” MT 12mm hex wheels. Starting with the tyres, the 2.2” Rangers resemble the iconic 48” tyres that started the monster truck craze back in the 1970’s. The 1/10th scale variant makes use of the popular 2.2” wheel dimensions and it features the popular the Zig-zag tread, scale depth and side-wall lettering. The included open cell React inserts fill the void inside and help stabilize the large contact patch of the famous looking tyres. The low-profile stance stays very flat during race course competition, speed-runs or general use. The tyre carcass profile holds the weight extremely low while the design of the tyre beads allow just the right amount of contact patch for gluing and application. The Rangers tyre is available in the soft “blue” compound which is recommended for dirt, grass and asphalt while “gold” compound feels harder to the touch and excels on carpet, AstroTurf and polished concrete surfaces and expands less during high-speeds.

LRP X22 WorksTeam optional rotors

Coming from LRP and made for the new X22 series of 540-size competition modified motors are a total of five WorksTeam optional rotors. Available as 12.1mm, 12.3mm, 12.5mm, 12.7mm and 13.0mm variant, the rotors have great influence on the overall RPM and available torque, with the smaller diameters increasing the RPM at the expense of lower torque, less powerful brakes and higher motor temperatures while the larger diameter items reduce the overall RPM but increase torque and brake performance. This means smaller diameter rotors are better suited for 2WD cars or lower grip tracks while the large rotors will excel in 4WD vehicles or on high-grip surfaces. All rotors are direct replacements and they come with laser-etched markings for easy identification.

Knapp & Firsching dominate U.S. Indoor Champs

The 37th annual U.S. Indoor Championships were held in Cleveland, Ohio last weekend with almost 500 entries making this event the largest road race in the U.S.. With almost 40 years of racing heritage, the U.S. Indoor Champs attracted all the big names in the country with some of the largest class entry numbers ever. In 1/12th Modified it was Andrew Knapp who would lead the pack in the A-main. Having no intention to run the class, a little kick in the bottom by his chassis sponsor meant Andrew would only start with Q2 and with no result going into that round, he was resorted to dead last in the bottom heat. He poked around the track feeling out the power and handling of 1/12th scale Modified gaining him a 3rd qualifying position. Now sorted into the A-heat in third, Andrew pushed a bit harder with more confidence in round 3 gaining him a close 2nd, just missing TQ. For round 4, Knapp and motor man Jim Dieter threw it all out there and he ripped the car around for a TQ spot. In the A-main, Andrew was simply on a different level. He drove away from the competition at times making it look easy as he bantered jokingly with other drivers on the stand.
