AKA Reverb 1:8 Buggy Tyre

New from US tyre manufacturer AKA comes the all new Reverb 1:8 Buggy race tyre. Developed for the hard packed and dusty surfaces shaping modern 1:8 buggy racing, its directional tread pattern is built to generate strong forward bite under acceleration while maintaining predictable steering and balanced cornering grip. An updated carcass with optimised inner reinforcements helps keep the contact patch consistent, giving the buggy a stable, controlled feel under braking, through technical sections, and deep into long mains. Available in Super Soft, Soft Long Wear, and Super Soft Long Wear compounds, AKA say the Reverb gives racers more options to tune grip, feel, and durability for changing track conditions.

Efficace claims ACI National Trophy – Report

The 1:10 Touring National Trophy was held by ACI Sport on the beautiful Minicar Fiorano track where it was Andrea Efficace who took the Stock title. With drivers gathering on the famous circuit – one of the best R/C facilities in Italy – from all over the country, the level of the field was very high and the competition was fierce since the very start of the event. In the Stock 17.5 class it was ICON RC’s very own Efficace who took a convincing overall TQ, winning two qualification rounds out of three, with Gianluigi Ciavolino coming in second and Bruno Rampini in third. Efficace then managed to take home a tone to tone win in A1, and to wrap up the event in A2 after a fierce battle with Ciavolino in the first couple of minutes: with the home driver forced to give up on the charge in the second half of the 5-minute final, Andrea simply had to take his Mugen MTC3 powered by a HW “Tuned by ACC” motor across the finish line to take home a back-to-back victory of the title, repeating last year’s win. With Efficace sitting out of A3, Ciavolino was able to take a dominating win in the third leg and to consolidate a convincing P2 with his Awesomatix, ahead of Bruno Rampini who rounded up the podium for Schumacher.

Mardave exploring Meteor re-release

Just over 40-years after it was launched, niche British manufacturer Mardave has announced that the Meteor buggy that it produced up until 1992 could now be a possible re-release option for the company. Best known for its 1:12 Mini kits, the small produced also previously produced entry level 1:10 buggies. Having sold the rights and molds for its Cobra 1:10 2WD Buggy to Stack RC last year, re-releasing the Meteor was a little more challenging. The previous Mardave owner had destroyed the tooling for this low cost alternative to the RC10, which meant new owner Chris Wilkinson always said no to bringing back to the Meteor but now he has hinted that a re-release was being explored. This has come about due to new production processes evolving so fast and Mardave partnering up with suitable partner. With retro a big think in RC, fan are sure to be excited by today’s update on social media of a potential return of the kit.

Woulhunter wins Asian Buggy Championships Australia

Factory Kyosho driver Christian Wolhuter took the big win at the Australian round of the Asian Buggy Championships, the 2004 ABC Champion taking the top step of the podium ahead of Jackson Beale and Jayden Edmunds at the Pine Pills track in Brisbane. With the 3rd stop on the 4 round calendar attracting over 300 entries, it was to be a challenging weekend for both the race organisers and racers as rain and further incoming bad weather forced the racing to be condensed to finish under the lights on Saturday night. In qualifying it was the Team Associated of last year’s Australian round winner Alex Bernadzik who took the TQ honours from Beale’s Tekno, each having a TQ run from the 2 rounds of qualifying Race Director Scotty Ernst & his team managed to squeeze in around the weather. With a P2 in Q2, Wolhuter would line up P3 ahead of the Xray of New Zealand Champion Logan Toia, and new Sparko signing Edmunds. In the 45-minute final unfortunately a bad batch of glow plugs would end Bernadzik’s chances of repeating his 2025 win on lap 1 as he suffered a series of flameouts. Despite putting in the fastest lap of the race and rising back up to 7th in the 14 buggy field, he would retire in the closing stages of the race. Up front Wolhuter took the win by a comfortable 24-seconds from Beale while Edmunds just held off Zan Ryan by 4-second to complete the podium. In eBuggy, it was Bernadzik who also took the TQ which he was able to convert to the win ahead of Edmunds and Wolhuter. The fourth season of the Asian Buggy Championships concludes in Indonesia with the fourth round at West Side Raceway in Jakarta from September 3-6th.
