Something that seemed to slip our radar, mainly due to my lack of knowledge with regards 1/12th scale, is the fact that the all new CRC (Calandra Racing Concepts) Carpet Knife Generation X kicked ass at the Halloween Classic in Cleveland. While we only brought you the Touring modified results, it seemed that the real racing at this event was happening in the comeback class, 1/12th. Mark Smyka TQ’d and won in the 19T class, whilst in modified it was Mike Blackstock who took the TQ and the win.
After 2 rounds of qualifying for the 1/8th scale Japanese Nationals being held at the Hokusei Circuit in Japan, Masao Tanaka heads the leaderboard. The Kawahara driver, and Worlds finalist, is in 1st position just ahead of current Japanese national champion and Worlds finalist, Takaaki Shimo. In the next two spots are the Sahashi brothers with younger Tadahiko in 3rd, the Japanese 1/10th national champion just ahead of his brother Sukenari. World 1/10th scale champion Keisuke Fukuda is just outside the top 4 in fifth position with the top 6 racers doing 17 lap runs on this 340 meter long track.
Qualifying continues tomorrow and we will bring you the news as we get it.
Robert over at RC50.com has posted the results, pictures and even some videos on his site of last weekends Halloween Classic held at ‘The Gate’ in Cleveland. This was a very big race with both 1/10th Sedan and 1/12th classes being run and over 260+ competitors. In the premier event, the Touring car modified, it was Bobby Flack who took the win ahead of Barry Baker with Paul Lemieux in third, making it a 1-2-3 for the Xray T2007.

Top Swedish Xray racer Alex Hagberg has won the recent Nordic Championships event held in a large sports hall in Sarpsborg, Norway. The event was well attended with top racers from Sweden and Norway and Alex has his report up on the Xray site.
The third and deciding final was coming up. It was really tense as the drivers got together for the third main. The start went smoothly, and it was really close, during the second lap, I hit a dot and soon Helge took the lead in front of Niclas. The two got together so I could pass. I had the lead and started to pull away for the Nordic Championship win.
Young racer Zack Barry has dominated proceedings at last weekends East Coast Championships held at Pottbellys RC speedway in New Jersey. The report on the Xray site tells how he TQ’d the entire event, even ahead of the 1/18th sedans, with a truck.
Zack took the driver’s stand, and went on to complete an amazing 24 lap run. This run not only was TQ for trucks, but also beat the sedan’s best qualifier by a full lap. Zack went on to win the a-main by 2 full laps, followed by Tom Lorranger in 2nd also driving an Xray M18T.
Japanese company Tech Racing are close to releasing their MY07 Medusa EX, the follow up the MY05 that finished 9th (Sport) in this year ultra competitive Japanese EP Touring car nationals. The car will be available with pink or light blue aluminium parts and is limited in numbers. The car is set for release on the 17th of November and the first batch will contain titanium parts so if you want one, you better pre-order.
Now normally I wouldn’t write about such cars as I find them a bit toyish, but these ones are cute and are made by the grandaddy of RC competition, Team Associated, so they are deserving of mention. The RC18R is a little 1/18th scale electric rally car that is based on Associated’s popular and already available ready-to-run 1/18th scale buggies and truggies but then are adapted to suit the narrower width.
