JJ Wang secures CETC pole position in Q3

Xray continued to dominate qualifying in the Modified class as JJ Wang secured the overall TQ, taking the 3rd round this morning at RCI V2 in Shanghai at Rd3 of the CETC presented by Infinity. The factory Xray driver quickly built up a lead from the start and ended the race 2.5 seconds up on Yokomo team driver Nicholas Lee to claim pole position for this afternoon’s triple A-mains. Awesomatix driver Rocket Zhang was in 2nd position at the halfway point in the run but he was overtaken by Lee and Lao Min Hao, but in the final minute the local Shanghai driver found pace to get back passed Hao and take 3rd at the end. After 3 rounds Rocket is sitting in fourth behind Lao Min Hao in the overall classification, while Serpent driver Felix Law had a repeat of his performance in Q1, taking 5th position.

Bruno Coelho crowned 4WD Buggy European Champion

The 4WD portion of the 2017 EFRA 1/10th Electric Buggy European Championship, that were held this past week in Italy, culminated with yesterday’s triple A-main legs. After several unpredictable qualifying sessions which saw many of the top drivers make mistakes and fall into difficulty, Portugal’s Bruno Coelho secured pole position in 4WD with three TQ runs while the other rounds being topped by the UK’s Neil Cragg and Italy’s Davide Ongaro.

Q2 in Shanghai again goes to JJ Wang

Xray Factory driver JJ Wang continued to stamp his authority on the event as he took another round of qualifying in the modified class at the 3rd round of the 2017 CETC presented by Infinity at RCI V2 in Shanghai. A very consistent round for the Chinese American driver this run however was slower than Q1 due to the mostly unexpected drop in traction. Yokomo factory driver Nicholas Lee once again had to settle for second place, however the gap to Wang in 1st this time was down to just 1.9 seconds as the Singaporean continued to improve. Xray youngster Lao Ming Hao and Awesomatix driver Rocket Zhang maintained their position from the opening round with the former National Champion just 0.2 seconds behind the CETC Rd1 Rising Star winner in 3rd. For this round Yokomo driver Motor King managed to regain some of his lost practice pace to take 5th place ahead of 2016 Reedy Race Open Modified class Champion Julian Wong. JJ’s mechanic, Xray driver Hara Tune ended the round 7th, with another 3 Xray drivers completing the Top 10, with Canadian driver Mihnea Lupu, Jerry Dai and Nicholas Koh respectively.

JJ Wang takes Q1 ahead of Nicholas Lee

The opening round of qualifying for the 3rd round of the CETC presented by Infinity in Shanghai, saw Xray driver JJ Wang continue his good form from practice to take the top spot in the Modified class. Yokomo driver Nicholas Lee finally found the pace he was lacking earlier in the day to take 2nd overall, while Awesomatix driver Rocket Zhang lost out to young Xray driver Lao Ming Hao by 0.38 seconds and had to settle for 4th. Serpent team driver Felix Law improved on his practice performance by one spot, with Xray drivers Julian Wong and Mihnea Lupu completing the top 7. Second place after controlled practice Motor King was not able to carry over that speed to qualifying and ended up in 8th.

JJ Wang tops CETC Rd3 Controlled Practice with ease

The 3rd round of the first season of the CETC presented by Infinity got underway at RCI V2 in Shanghai today. After 2 rounds of controlled practice it was Xray factory driver JJ Wang, running at his home track, who topped both seeding rounds to come out on top in the Infinity Modified class with a best 3 consecutive laps of 34.196 seconds. Only 0.56 seconds behind was Yokomo driver Motor King who improved his result through a much better 2nd round, improving from 6th place after round 1, and just in front of Awesomatix driver, and new father, Rocket Zhang. Motor King’s team mate and current leader of the Arrowmax Chinese Modified standings Nicholas Lee will be seeded 4th, with Chinese Junior National Champion Lao Ming Hao taking 5th by overtaking Felix Law on the last lap of his run, the Serpent factory driver having to settle for 6th. Behind him was American Xray driver Julian Wong who was seeded 7th just ahead of young Shanghai based Malaysian Nicholas Koh.

STRC 4-Tec 2.0 carbon & aluminium option parts

ST Racing Concepts have announced a range of graphite and CNC-machined aluminium option parts for the Traxxas 4-Tec 2.0 Ford GT and Mustang GT RTR cars. Designed to increase both the performance and durability of Traxxas’s latest on-road platform, first up are carbon fibre front and rear shock towers. They help keeping the suspension functioning properly in soaking up the bumps and providing traction by eliminating the plastic nylon shock towers and replacing them with high quality graphite parts. They are more rigid and do away with unwanted flex, leaving shocks to do their work properly while adding that factory racing look the car. The towers are available separately for the front and rear and they include suitable mounting hardware.
