Martin N.O Hansen takes Danish 1/8th IC Track title

Last weekend the 2nd round of the Danish Nitro On-road Championship was held at the small and technical track of the Odense RC Minirace club. In the 1/8th class it was again Martin N.O Hansen who set the pace, claiming the TQ position by winning all four qualifying rounds. Bo Nielsen lined up in 2nd and Henrik Christensen had to settle for the 3rd spot. Going into the 30-minute final Martin looked unbeatable, but Rasmus B. Nielsen had a rocket start from P4 and was right behind Martin on the first lap. The first four minutes saw a close battle between the two and the gap was only about 0.8 seconds. Later Martin hit a curb and went into the grass which gave Rasmus a comfortable lead that he was maintaining well. Martin was pushing in 2nd place, trying to catch up with Rasmus but the latter was able to even lap Martin, whose pit crew then decided to change the strategy, sending out Martin on different tyres. Pushing his car to the maximum Martin set a new track record while up front an unfortunate Rasmus had to retire with gearbox issues with six minutes left in the race. This allowed Martin N.0 Hansen (ARC/Novarossi/Contact) to cruise to the win some five laps in front of Bo Nielsen (Infinity/Orcan/Matrix) in 2nd and Kasper Eliasen (Shepherd/Novarossi/Contact) 3rd. With the win, Martin also secured the overall title for 2017.

Thanks to Martin N.O Hansen for the report.
