Serpent sign Alex Thurston to their international team

Serpent have announced the signing of UK frontrunner, Alex Thurston to their international team. Alex is focussed on the 1/10th 200mm nitro class and he will campaign Serpent’s 748 platform at events such as the ENS, the European Championships and the National Championship while also having select outings in the electric 1/10th Touring and 1/8th Electric on-road classes. Alex says:

I am very excited to run for team Serpent and work together closely with Michael Salven, David Ehrbar and the other top-drivers in the team like Mark Green and Dominic Greiner.

Patrick Hofer sweeps Indoor GP Bütschwil

The annual Indoor GP Bütschwil was held this past weekend in Bütschwil, Switzerland. On an again pretty challenging and slippery track Patrick Hofer would take the overall TQ after winning two of the four qualifying rounds with Luca Rau coming in second and Aaron Münster taking third, both scoring a round TQ each. The 45-minute A-main was a pretty clean affair for the top qualifier as Patrick Hofer (Team Associated) was able to bring home the win some two laps ahead of Aaron Münster (Kyosho) with Christoph Affolter rounding out the podium in third.

Team Magic E5-series machined bevel gear set

HRC Distribution have introduced a new bevel gear set for the Team Magic E5 series of monster trucks. Machined from high-quality steel and being of 43T/11T specification the gear set is a direct replacement for the standard parts, improving precision, efficiency and durability. Included in the set, that is usable in the front and the rear of the truck, is one diff and one input gear.

Flash Point R/C pre-mounted 1/8th GT tyres

Coming from Flash Point R/C are pre-mounted high-grip belted 1/8th GT tyres. They feature a reinforced inner belt to provide increased stability and precision and they are available in soft 40 and super soft 35 rubber compound. The tyres come pre-mounted on white or black Flash Point Seven wheels and fit most 1/8th GT and rally game cars.

JConcepts Spring Super Cup Series Rd3 – Report

The recent third round of the JConcepts Super Cup Championship Series was hosted by Newberry R/C Park and the track crew did an amazing job putting together a super fun layout that was ultra smooth and full of character. From Lake Park’s round 2 attendance of over 250 entries, round 3 at Newberry set a Super Cup record with 279 total entries. The track is a perfectly sized 1/10th scale track that’s easy on the eyes meaning you can see corner to corner without straining to see your vehicle at the furthest distances. Pictures do not do this track the proper justice as Newberry is perhaps one of the best looking tracks to gaze at from the driver’s stand. The surface was sprayed with soda water to give more bite with tire wear being the trade-off. With the sun being a huge factor on grip, being on the right compound at the right time was the key to one’s success. As the sun went down and racing was held under lights, shifting to another compound or tread design was a move that most of the top drivers made in order to set the fastest times.

Dave Crompton wins at JCR Products Winter Series Rd7

The Pendle club recently played host to round 7 of the Winter Series. Rainy weather before the race soaked the track and light showers through the day made things unpleasant but at least there was no standing water so the race went ahead. At the end of the 22-minute Nitro Buggy main final Dave Crompton walked away with the win from Ashlee Owen in second and Gavin Uttley third. Colin Brennan and Mick Butler would round out the top 5.

Xray Racing Series Poland Rd4 – Report

The fourth round of Xray Racing Series Poland took place last weekend on a very challenging but fun to drive track in Lodz. The 2WD Buggy qualifiers were a pretty close affair between Xray team mates Kaja Novotny and Martin Wollanka. The outcome was decided by traffic and times and ultimately it was Kaja who took the top qualifier honours. 4WD Buggy was a 3-horse race for the overall TQ between Wollanka, Zambrzycki and Novotny. The rounds were super close with again traffic playing a role and in the end Martin was able to take the pole position for the finals from Bartek Zambrzycki (Yokomo) and Kaja.

Samix SCX10 II rear 3-link set

Samix have introduced a new rear 3-link set for the Axial SCX10 II trail truck. The set makes use of the standard ball cups and includes a new heavy duty turnbuckle, shock and axle side mounting brackets as well as mounting hardware. The set was designed to be used together with Samix’s optional rear lockouts and rear shock plate.
