2016 Full Throttle Championships – Report

The inaugural running of the Full Throttle Champs was held at Banana RC Raceway in Dallas, Texas with the race kicking off the carpet season in the United States. The track layout was tight and technical; challenging all drivers to be smooth and avoid mistakes. The traction was high as usual on the CRC black carpet. 74 entries were in attendance between the seven classes. The event utilized a unique 3-day racing format. Day one was all open practice. Day two was three rounds of rocket round qualifying and bump-up B-mains for the last spot in the A in each class. Finally, day 3 was triple mains for everyone.

Nandos RC Challenge – Report

The Nandos RC Challenge was held at the high-grip indoor asphalt track at Welkom RC Club in South Africa. The drivers were seeded according to their 2015 National results and the current national standings and then divided into the Invitational, Cup and Plate groups in Touring modified. The challenge took on the Reedy-style heads-up racing over five rounds. In Modified Invitational local driver and track owner Antonio Caroli had an excellent day at the track and won all the races with fast and consistent runs. He was however kept honest by youngsters Jacques Myburg and Ashley Hurley and the experienced Anderton Smith also pushed hard to beat Antonio. The other drivers Willie du Plooy, Shaun Schutte and Andre Greeff showed good pace and used this event for preparation of the upcoming Nationals in September.

2016 Midwest Series Rd4 – Report

With the threat of 100 percent chance of rain all weekend, the Tri State Radio Controlled Auto Racers hosted the fourth race of the 2016 Midwest Series at their track in Cincinnati, Ohio. In spite of the weather, the TSRCAR crew had the track prepped and ready for action. This six race series was established back in 1970 and is the longest running series in the United States. It features both 1/10 Sedan and 1/8 Open 4WD classes as well as Masters classes for both scales. The cars are run together by scale but scored separately by class.

Schelle B6 flat A-arm front & 31mm rear shock towers

Coming from Schelle Racing Innovations are two new carbon fibre option parts for the Team Associated B6 buggy. First up is the flat A-arm front shock tower and wing mount. The front tower design mates with a 3-D-printed upper wing mount, allowing to screw-on the front wing without removing the shock standoffs. The design also allows to quickly extract the mount without removing the shock standoff screws, as well as remove the wing off the car for travel or cleaning while keeping the mount in place. Furthermore the screw-on front wing design eliminates the common wing failure of cracking at the mount tab corner. The front tower kit comes including suitable hardware and a gullwing A-arm variant will be released soon.

ILR SB401 4mm carbon fibre rear shock tower

Inside Line Racing have released a new 4mm thick carbon fibre shock tower for the rear of the PR SB401 4WD buggy. The tower features revised inner camber link positions which moves the group of holes down by 3.5mm. This provides the ability for increased rear traction and stability. In addition to the two existing upper shock mounting positions, there is a new outer hole to allow the shock to be stood up more giving increased forward drive when necessary and allow further tuning.

Team Corally have introduced their new Factory Pro Tools range of metric tools and wrenches. All make use of 22mm diameter aluminium handles that sport coloured end caps and easy-to-replace hardened spring steel tool tips. The range includes 1.5mm to 3mm hex wrenches, 4mm to 8mm hex drivers as well as four cross head and two blade type screw drivers.

Dirt Racing Products recessed ball-stud washer set

JConcepts have released another Brian “Dirt” Kinwald product in the form of the Dirt Racing Products recessed washer set that was designed to offer two ball-stud height adjustments while utilizing a single washer. The 2 and 3mm washers feature a 1mm recess; this allows a driver to simply flip orientation for desired height. The large diameter of the washer provides a steady footing against plastic and aluminum components while the milled and recessed grooves easily indicate which height is in hand. Included in each package are four pieces of the 2 to 1mm washer and two pieces of the 3 to 2mm washer. In addition, a 0.5mm shim is also included for the ultimate in fine tuning adjustment and can be used alongside the recessed washers. Anodized in black, the washers can be used as a technical tuning option or simply during a “black-out vehicle build.

Resembling the popular ninth generation truck, the body drops on a variety of long monster trucks which range from 12.5″ to 13” wheelbase. Included come a comprehensive decal sheet, window masks and also an attachable Racerback.
