Elangears Elan R AI multi-chemistry DC charger

Elangears have introduced their new Elan R AI multi-chemistry DC charger. Based on the Elan R the AI variant comes with a new Lithium battery scan feature that makes for more convenient and secure battery charging. Before the charge process starts the device runs through a couple of routines, indicating the battery type and voltage to choose the best possible charge program and settings. After user confirmation the charger automatically starts the charging process and adapts the charging values if needed, based on the battery’s parameters such as voltage, current and internal resistance. The system is meant to minimise stress for the battery while still allowing for short charging times. With 100W of charge power the device allows for up to 10A or charge current with 1S to 6S LiPo, LiHV and LiFe batteries and it can also handle 1 to 14-cell NiMH batteries if needed. The charger is housed in a compact 91x120mmx45mm case and it features a backlit 2-lines, 16-characters LC display.

JConcepts B6-series Elephant Trunk style waterfall

Another 3-D-printed part has been added to JConcepts’s Shapeways store in the form of the Elephant Trunk style waterfall for the Team Associated B6 and B6D. Designed for B6-series owners using a laydown transmission, the Elephant Trunk style waterfall replaces the stock unit and is more flexible than the stock piece. The part uses a single column support which promotes flex characteristics giving traction gains associated with these types of adjustments. The mount splits at the bottom to attach using the stock B6 hardware and uses the same pivot ball at the top making it a snap to install. The Elephant Trunk waterfall has already shown success in the hands of Alex Kosciuszek during the JConcepts Indoor National finals event by running the single fastest qualifying run over 5 minutes and it is available through JConcept’s Shapeways store here.

RDRP B6-series brass electronics mounting plate

Coming from RDRP and made for the Team Associated B6 series of 2WD buggies is the brass electronics mounting plate. The 2mm plate is 0.5mm thicker and at 53g about 17g heavier than Team Associated’s own steel plate set while being designed to be a drop fit for the chassis’ machined pocket behind the steering servo. Using it allows to easily remove the speed controller and receiver from the car for cleaning and maintenance purposes while also adding weight to the buggy when running lightweight LCG battery packs. On top of this the black and golden design improves visual impact and the chamfered golden edges make for a smoother chassis-to-plate transition for further improved looks and functionality. The mounting plate fits both the B6 and B6D and it comes including suitable mounting hardware.

Lu Yi Heng TQs & wins at SMP Buggy Race

The recent SMP Buggy Race in China saw Lu Yi Heng taking the TQ in the 2WD buggy class. In the opening A-main, Lu tried to open a gap to the field but the second and third placed drivers were hot on his heels until they both crashed, allowing Lu to bring home the win in A1. For the second A-main the track started to loose traction but a fresh set of tyres allowed the pole position holder to bring home another win to grab the overall win with one leg to spare. A3 then held some difficulties for Lu who suffered several collisions with other drivers but putting his head down he was able to move up to the second place again while up front Lu Yi Heng’s teammate Jimmy Qian scored the win to secure himself the overall runner-up spot.
