Proline Indoor Challenge – Practice

Proline Indoor Challenge

This bank holiday weekend in the UK, sees the ProLine Indoor Challenge take place at the Harper Adams agricultural college, the same venue that hosted last years Neo Invitational race. Today saw timed practice, with Sunday quailifying and Monday the finals, and it was the US invasion that topped the times at this early stage of the event. In the buggy class it was Ryan Maifield heading the times for the Assocaited RC8 with fellow RC8 racer Richard Saxton in 2nd while young German Thunder Tiger racer Joern Neumann is lying in 3rd.

In the truggy class it was Mugen racer and Pro Line employee Scott Hughes who was topping the times with German Thunder Tiger racer Juern Newmann in 2nd while John Holmes ended the practice day in 3rd. Qualifying starts tomorrow and thats when the event starts to get serious and we hope to bring you a report at the end of the day.

A few months ago JConcepts released their effective and really cool looking Illuzion buggy wing and at that time it was only available in white and yellow. Today they announced that this wing will now be available in black, and just to recap about the product itself, it is designed for both 1/8th buggies and truggies and features durable through-rib design and recessed side dams for extra decal protection.

JConcepts also released some Ball Cup sets which are designed to fit all 1/10th scale off-road vehicles and come in black, white and yellow. Designed with performance as well as aesthetics in mind these newly designed low-profile ball cups have been designed for extra durability and added â€˜wheel to tie-rodâ€™ clearance. Ryan Cavalieri wins RCX Supercross

At last weekends RCX show, as with every year, a Supercross race brings together the best drivers from every major factory team to see who is the best and walk away with a cash prize of $500.00. The racing format consists of 3 heats of five drivers racing for 3 minutes with only the top two from each heat advancing to the main event. Team Associated racer Ryan Cavalieri won his heat with the new RC8 and took his spot into the main and when the gate dropped, it was Cavalieriâ€™s Team Orion Wasp .21 powered RC8 that grabbed the holeshot and despite a first lap incident, Cavalieri came back through the field and made an amazing pass on the last lap to give him the win and the $500 cheque.

Fernando Almeida wins Rd2 Portuguese Nats

Last weekend, the second round of the 2007 Portuguese 1/8th scale off road National Championships took place on the Ortigosa track in Leiria. After qualifying it was Crono racer Nuno Casal Ribeiro that took the pole position spot for the main final, but just after the start he got hit by another car, damaging his exhaust badly and loosing him 2 laps in the pits getting it fixed. Getting back onto the track he drove a great recovery drive to bring himself back up to 3rd by the end of the race just behind 2nd place Kyosho driver Miguel Matias with Mugen racer Fernando Almeida taking the overall win.

Joe Glover takes 2007 Ottawa TC Champs

2007 Ottawa TC Champs

Xray have a report on their site about the 2007 Ottawa TC Championships run by the RC Ottawa club at their great indoor facility. Joe Glover managed to TQ both the 19T and modified classes and went into the finals confident of winning both classes, but a collision in the 19T final meant he went a lap down, but was able to fight his way back to 4th at the end with Louis Vanderway taking the win ahead of Leonard Shinzano and Gordie Tam. In the modified class it was much easier for Glover and he won easily, leading home an Xray 1-2-3 finish with Leonard Shinzano and Gordie Tam finishing in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Trinity Grand Stand

Trinity have announced the release of their new ‘Grand Stand’, which is a folding car stand designed to hold the all R/C vehicles from 1/16th cars and trucks up to the biggest 1/7th scale monster trucks. Constructed using a light weight molded composite, and screw assembled, the Trinity patented design allows the â€œGrand Standâ€ to be folded down flat for easy storage in your pit box. Ian Haley wins 2007 Ballajura Masters

2007 Ballajura Masters

Last weekend saw the 2007 Radio Rally Club’s Ballajura Masters Trophy Day run on the clubs temporary track in Perth, Western Australia. The event attracted 48 drivers which were spread over 3 classes which included 1/8 scale buggies, truggies and Monster trucks, and the most competitive class, the buggy class, was won by OCM driver Ian Haley who finished 2 laps ahead of 2nd placed Clint Van Esch with Rob Ralston finishing in 3rd.

Richi Gomez leaves Axe Rossi

The continuing saga of Richi Gomez and his engine supplier continues, as he was recently spotted back running RB motors after apparently stepping out of his high profile deal to run with Axe Rossi motors, which was announced earlier this year. Richi, a GS racer, had raced for RB motors prior to his new deal with Axe Rossi but had only stayed with the French Manufacturer for a short time and prior to that had run with Novarossi. According to our site partners Neo Buggy, his return to RB engines is a deal brokered through Richi and the Spanish RB distributor, and not direct the factory as his prior deals were.
