Zak Smith wins Round 5 of British Championship

Zak Smith has won the penultimate round of the British Electric Touring Car Championship at West London.  The Schumacher driver claimed his second consecutive win of the season when he beat Top Qualifier Ben Cosgrove and championship leader Kyle Branson.  Qualifying second, Smith opened the triple A-Mains with a big winning margin over Awesomatix’ Cosgrove and Peter Eagles with Branson’s Xray fourth.  Branson, winner of Rounds 1 & 3 of the championship, would take A2 with Smith only fifth.  With it all on the line in A3, Cosgrove would convert his TQ starting position into a win but with Smith second and Branson back in 7th, it was enough for Smith to add to his Mendip victory from a month earlier.  Cosgrove would end up with best finish of the season with second while Branson completed the Round 5 podium.

Rheinard finally claims first ETS win with Awesomatix

Marc Rheinard has finally claimed his first ETS win with Awesomatix, a nice boost for both driver and manufacturer ahead of next month’s World Championships in Italy.  Having secured the TQ for the German round at Arena 33, the former World Champion was pushed hard in the opening A-Main on Saturday evening by 2nd place qualifier Yannic Prumper. Despite the Yokomo team driver setting the fastest lap, the only one to run in the 17-seconds, Rheinard stayed out front for the win.  A2 on Sunday morning saw Rheinard take a more convincing win to lock up the overall victory for Round 3 of the series and finally give Awesomatix only their second ever success in the ETS’ premiere Modified category.  With Rheinard able to sit out A3, Prumper won that encounter from Christopher Krapp to secure 2nd overall with his Yokomo team-mate, winner at ETS Austria, completing the Andernach podium line up.  Mugen’s Ronald Volker claimed fourth ahead of Awesomatix’ Lucas Urbain with Xray’s Marco Kaufmann rounding out the Top 6. Adding to the Awesomatix celebrations, Max Machler would also convert his TQ into victory in Pro Stock.

Rheinard takes TQ at ETS Germany

Marc Rheinard is the Top Qualifier at ETS Germany, the Awesomatix driver topping two of the four rounds of qualifying at his home track in Andernach. With driver’s travelling to Arena33 for the third round of the series and to make final preparations for the upcoming World Championships, it was Yokomo who set the pace in the opening qualifier on Friday.  Yannic Prumper was fastest from team-mate & Round 2 winner Christopher Krapp. Picking up where he left off from his recent German National title win two week earlier at the same track, Rheinard’s Awesomatix topped the times in Q2 & 3 which would be enough to secure pole position. Despite not having a good final qualifier, Prumper will start second with Q4 pace setter Krapp P3 ahead of the Xray of Marco Kaufmann and Mugen’s Ronald Volker. Highest non German driver on the grid is Awesomatix’s Lucas Urbain in P6 followed by the Schumacher of offroad ace Michal Orlowsk. It was a good qualifying for Awesomatix at Arena33 with Max Machler the Top Qualifier in Pro Stock ahead of the similar car of Simon Lauter. Xray’s Jan Ratheisky qualified third.

RC Maker 3D Pro Carbon ultra-lite body stiffeners

RC Maker introduce their 3D Pro Carbon Ultra-Lite Body Stiffeners and Wing Mount & Anti-Tuck Stiffener Set for 1/10th EP Onroad.  The biggest talk in touring at the moment is Low Centre of Gravity and Aerodynamics. Stiffer bodies normally come at the cost of weight and centre of gravity, making it difficult to have a lightweight, yet rigid shell. These one-piece stiffeners combine very thin carbon rods with the latest 3D Printing technology to provide a feather weight of only 2.5g! The centre is attached with the supplied double sided tape, and the sides with the provided M3 Screws to provide a very lightweight, stiff and easy to install solution.

Sweep Racing VHT Crusher-10 White dot drag racing tire

Sweep Racing has released a new white compound option of their VHT Crusher-10 Drag Racing tire. This is the 3rd compound option for Street Eliminator Drag Racing. After the soft launch of in Red and Black X-dot tires and taking the class by storm, they are proud to introduce White dot tires. The White dot is made out of the same rubber as the Red dot but a tiny bit stiffer to prevent chirping on hot days at the Drag Strip, the rubber mixture perfected over a year of R&D at Sweep’s US facility. Sweep say the tires require none to minimal balancing to be competitive with just a very light burnout needed on a wool carpet.
