Tamiya release first TRF419X & TB Evo.6 MS images

Hot on the heels of the Tamiya TA07 Pro come first official images of Tamiya’s TRF419X and TB Evo.6 MS competition touring cars. Starting with the latest incarnation of the TRF419, the “X” variant is in development for some time now with the factory team having used prototypes of the car at several occasions such as the ETS and AOC races. The vehicle is a redesign of the TRF419 and it will feature updated front and rear bulkheads, a new motor mount as well as refined materials and component shapes in various areas. New for the “X” are also newly-designed low-profile big bore shock absorbers, new rear uprights, a multi-piece aluminium and carbon fibre servo mount as well as the 2.15mm carbon fibre main chassis and 2.0mm upper deck. The kit is set for a release at the end of June.

Rico, Mitch & Olson win at Comstock Challenge

The first Comstock Challenge was held at the newly reopened Track Time Hobbies and Raceway located in Reno, Nevada. This year’s race saw people travelling from as far as Sacramento and Las Vegas to compete in the 122 entry race. The weekend started off with a club race on Friday night followed by practice and the first qualifiers on Saturday with a final qualifier and the mains on Sunday. The 4WD Modified Buggy A-main was then won by Rudy Rico while the Modified Truck class had JR Mitch coming out successful. In 4×4 SCT Matt Olson would end the day on top of the podium.

Tamiya TA07 Pro 1/10th 4WD touring car kit

Following a first unofficial image of Tamiya’s TA07 Pro club-level touring car the Japanese manufacturer now officially revealed the all-new on-road platform. The kit makes use the lower TRF419 suspension with the chassis being a totally new design featuring a composite chassis plate to which an outer frame connects. The goal is to achieve optimised flex characteristics, compared to the class-standard tub chassis, while offering an easy to build and maintain platform. The transmission of the TA07 Pro is of a 1-belt design that allows to shift the motor and layshaft mount forth and back in order to alter the car’s overall weight distribution with the kit offering three different positions with a mid, mid-rear and rear motor position being possible. Other features of the Pro kit include high-performance TRF shock absorbers, TRF driveshafts as well as a range of blue anodised option parts such as ball studs, turnbuckles, and motor mount. Exotek introduces new TLR 22 3.0 options

Made for TLR’s 22 3.0 buggy is a range of new option parts from Exotek. First up is the vented Flite motor plate, specifically designed for indoor off-road racing. Excessive machining results in maximised motor cooling with the plate offering large cooling openings to reduce the motor and slipper clutch temperatures. Weighing in at 14 gram the plate also makes for a lower centre of gravity while still maintaining the critical motor mounting areas for solid motor mounting and gear mesh.

Coming from Yaiba Racing are three sets of composite driveshaft blades for a range of 1/10th electric touring cars. Made to protect both the drive pins of the driveshafts as well as the differential outdrives, the blades offer high durability and low friction characteristics with the colour-coded 10-piece sets being available for Tamiya TRF418 and TRF419 kits, for the Yokomo BD5 and BD7 as well as the Xray T4 and VBC D07 and D08 kits.

Updated Avid B5-series aluminium steering bellcranks

Avid have introduced updated aluminium steering bellcranks for the Team Associated B5-series of buggies and trucks. They offer a revised design and material with the left bellcrank now being made of 7075-T6 alloy in order to improve reliability which was an issue with the older specification especially in truck applications. The new bellcranks still are of a lightweight design for minimal weight gain and they are strong enough to withstand the rigours of racing even on high-bite surfaces and with today’s high-power servos. The set includes the left and right bellcrank and two aluminium crush tubes and it fits all AE fifth generation vehicles such as the B5, B5M, T5M and SC5M.

Ryan Cavalieri to run Savox servos

Savox USA have announced that Team Associated’s Ryan Cavalieri has chosen their servos to control his race cars. The 4-time IFMAR World Champion and 3-time winner of the prestigious Reedy International Off-Road Race of Champions had this to say after driving Savox servos: “The centering torque and control were amazing. I felt much more connected to the car”. Savox customers can expect further innovation and new products as a result of this collaboration.

Team Associated show prototype 3-gear B5M gearbox

Team Associated are currently working on their new Stealth low-profile 3-gear gearbox for the B5M mid motor buggy. A design that’s around for some time, the low-profile gearboxes are a common sight in the 2WD class when running on high to very high bite astro and carpet surfaces and so far only aftermarket conversion kits are available for Team Associated’s B5M buggy. The issued images show a prototype made up using rapid prototype parts with the actual gearbox expected to be of a standard black colour. We bring you more information on the transmission as soon as they surface.
