Tamiya M-05 Ver.II R chassis kit

Tamiya M-05 Ver.II R chassis kit

Coming from Tamiya is the refined, race-spec version of the popular M-05 Ver.II Pro chassis. The M-05 chassis, which was released in 2009, has been a favourite platform for M-chassis club racers for years and the Version 2 tweaks the proven car with enhancements that take advantage of new battery technologies as well as tried and true suspension adjustments used in many of Tamiya’s touring car platforms. Furthermore, the M-05 Ver.II R kit features a number of upgrades, to improve balance and lower the chassis’ centre of gravity, including dedicated M-Chassis double-cardan drive shafts, plus a number of option parts such as TRF short aluminium dampers. Numerous aluminium parts in the kit also have a cool black anodised finish to make the R-Spec version stand out.

Exotek 22 3.0 laydown gearbox conversion

Exotek 22 3.0 laydown gearbox conversion

Available for pre-order now is Exotek’s laydown gearbox conversion for the TLR 22 3.0 buggy. The machined alloy 3 gear box makes for precise running gears, it is light of weight yet strong enough to stiffen up the chassis and rear tower for improved consistency on high-grip tracks. The low centre of gravity arrangement also makes all gears running in a straight line for a smoother running idler gear while the alloy material reduces motor temperatures as it acts as a heatsink. Also incorporated into the design is a slightly raised gear diff position which helps when running lower ride heights. The set will include a black anodised aluminium gearbox, an alloy lightweight motor plate, delrin gear cover, a hinged, lightweight carbon fibre battery mount as well as alloy waterfall spacers, a chassis drill template, hardware and full instructions. Targeting experienced modellers the set will become available around mid-April.

Over 103 entries across the weekend came in to do battle and with the weather on track to be nice and warm, all the stars seemed to align for a great weekend of racing action on the club’s natural outdoor clay surface. Racers poured into the facility from all across Western Australia, and some from as far as Melbourne, Victoria and Brisbane, Queensland came across to take part in the event and get a feel for the upcoming Australian EP Off Road titles in November. Practice started early Friday morning with many drivers taking to the track early to maximise their track time, the clay surface quickly developed more grip as more cars ran on it, and the lap times continued to fall, by the end of practice on Friday evening the collective group of drivers felt very happy with the grip on track.

JConcepts Aero car-stand

JConcepts Aero car-stand

JConcepts begins 2016 with fresh pit-ware for the 1/10th and 1/8th racing scene. Given to competitors at the Reedy Offroad Race of Champions earlier this year, the Aero car-stand in matte black material stands out in any pit area and supports the vehicle with its unique footing and highly chiseled shape. A rail-like border contains the shape while a deep draw along the sides creates a bold surface for included decal or custom wrap. A “V” step-down feature was added to the ends which brings the styling back down to earth while the void creates added space below the vehicle. A lower stance was built into the design and the smaller foot-print occupies minimal space in the pits. Top load pockets were incorporated as catch-all compartments for body clips, wheel nuts or any small items that are routinely changed during a race event. Triangle cushion pads are positioned on the top to provide support all the way to the edges on any platform vehicle to prevent slippage. JConcepts has included a decal wrap for maximum exposure and presence that resembles the popular chassis tape “Striker” theme.
