Wells & Munday take out Tasmanian Titles

The 2015 1/10th Offroad Tasmanian Titles were held at the Goodwood RC Club in Hobart, Tasmania. The small but enthusiastic Goodwood club had prepared a fun and challenging layout for the racers and mother nature provided its own challenge with a searing Summer sun and temperatures in the mid 30s all weekend. Several racers flew in from the Australian mainland for the race including Ray Munday, Ash Peeler, Mark Rogers and Cameron Zammit, all looking to take the challenge up to local hero Sam Wells in the Modified classes. AKA Rebars were chosen as the control tyre for the grooved dirt surface. In addition to the normal classes, this was the first running of the newly sanctioned “Junior” class for under 16’s with 2WD 17.5T buggies.

JConcepts Scorpios 1.9″ all-terrain scaling tyre

JConcepts Scorpios 1.9" all-terrain scaling tyre

Following the Ruptures 1.9″ performance scaling tyre JConcepts also introduce the Scorpios, an all-terrain variant. It features scale looks and extra tall size and profile with a closely knit tread resembling a 1:1 scale tyre. The padded arrangement of tread makes the tyre ideal for transitioning from the hard road to dirt and then into rocky and uneven terrain. Once power is applied to the vehicle, the tread spacing opens up which allows for some deep digging making it a great working tyre in dirt and muddy conditions. Each tread block has finely cut edges with a healthy radius where the block meets the tyre body. Each block features slight cuts on top to open up and create some sling space while the outer most lug extends down the sidewall to stiffen the upper carcass and increase the pinch grip. The flexibility of the compound combined with the close arrangement gives the tire a grippy feel but still maintains that all important look. The large overall height provides plenty of ground clearance for an abundance of terrain and internal grid ribbing help maintain its upright structure during hard loads and on power bursts. The tyres include a soft open cell foam insert capable of standing up the super soft compound but flexible enough for sharp terrain.

STRC Yeti, SCX10 & Wraith aluminium option parts

ST Racing Concepts has new option parts for Axial’s Yeti, Wraith and SCX10 off-road vehicles available in the form of aluminium centre driveshaft splines and a range of orange anodised alloy parts. Starting with the driveshaft splines, they are made for the use with the Yeti and the SCX10 truck and designed to strengthen the drivetrain and to improve power transfer as they eliminate the flex of the stock plastic driveshaft spline. The aluminium material is also more durable and smoother in movement inside the driveshaft halves during suspension articulation. The parts, of which two are needed per vehicle, are available in anodised black, green, silver, gun metal, orange and limited edition red.
