Shepherd Velox E8 1/8th electric on-road kit – Preview

Shepherd have a first official preview of the Velox E8 1/8th electric on-road kit available. After collecting first experience with a conversion kit developed in cooperation with Swiss company TTB Shepherd now introduce a purpose-designed car based on the European Championship winning Velox V8 EC. The car features some new design approaches such as the use of a single 6S LiPo mounted in the same area as the fuel tank on nitro-powered cars with a suitable battery being available soon from Shepherd and other manufacturers. Taken over from the nitro sibling are the suspension, the 3-belt drive train and other features like the laydown steering servo. Another feature is the possibility to mount standard 1/8 brushless motors and ESCs as well as the high-end components of Swiss company TTB without any additional parts needed. For the use of standard components a 7075-T6 aluminium motor mount and a carbon plate for the ESC are included in the kit while the TTB combo can be mounted directly to the chassis plate. Also included will be a high-quality 7075 T6 aluminium chassis plate for optimized engine cooling with a carbon insert to protect the battery from heating up. The kit is set for a release in December with more details and images becoming available soon.

Elliott Harper announces departure from Durango

Elliott Harper announces departure from Durango

Former World Championship podium finisher Elliott Harper has confirmed that he has left Team Durango. The British racer has made the announcement following Durango’s news yesterday that they are dissolving their factory team. The former TRF team driver, who has helped with the development of Durango’s touring car project since signing for the UK based team back in early 2013 had the following to say:

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time racing for the UK-based Team Durango, and we have achieved some great results together. The highlights have been A main appearances at both the 2013 and 2014 European Championships, with a 3rd place podium finish in 2013. I would like to thank everyone at the team for their work and support over the past years and I wish them all the best for the future. However, I felt now was the right time for a change and for me to pursue new ventures. Therefore, I am grateful to Team Durango for agreeing to an early release from my current contract and happy that we part on good terms. I have not made any other decisions yet, and do not currently know where my future lies, but I will now take my time to carefully choose my new destination. My aim is to contend for the UK National title and podium results at ETS events, the European Championships and, importantly, the World Championship in Beijing in 2016. I am confident I will find the right team to give me the support necessary to achieve those goals. I would like to thank all my sponsors and friends worldwide for their on-going support, and I look forward to seeing everyone trackside very soon.

Super Cup Championship Series Rd3 – Report

Super Cup Championship Series Rd3 – Report

It was a picture perfect day in sunny Florida at the Hurricane Off-road RC Track located inside Lake Park just outside of Tampa for the 3rd round of the Super Cup Championship Series. The brutal summer weather had taken its toll on the historic track and it took tons of hard work from the entire group of volunteers as the racing surface was primed for great outdoor racing. When Practice began Friday, racers searched for tire combo and setups for the changing track surface as it began to burn a groove in. At daybreak on Saturday racers filled into the park and we all were very excited about track conditions. The crew laid down Calcium on the track the night before and a small rain shower in the night wet the surface perfectly. The groove that had begun to show in practice was still there and more defined than when we left. Practice ended race morning just before 9am as the heat sheets filled with 132 entries from as far away as Tifton Ga.
