Worth the hype?

Worth the hype?

This week saw two pretty major events.  The first, the release of new software for a well-known mobile phone.  The second, the continued build up to the 2013 Electric Off-Road Worlds. OK, so those are somewhat different events, and the first likely one attracted slightly more world-wide interest than the second.  But, I believe there are actually a number of very strong comparisons we can make.  One of the big elements of the build up for the Worlds are the rumours surrounding the new 4-wheel drive cars from HB and TLR.  In a similar way to Apple’s latest Software release, all we’ve seen so far have been a few ‘teaser’ pictures, and some results from one of the cars in the hands of their expert driver.

Stuiver wins at Dutch champs, Rombouts champion

Stuiver wins at Dutch champs, Rombouts champion

The AMCA Apledoorn track saw the final round of the Dutch 1/10th nitro on-road championship. This time no Kyosho World Cup driver attended due to the KWC International Race but a couple of guests filled up the NK clas field nicely. Daan Stuiver finally got it together having a perfect weekend, just beating Pedro Rombouts to the pole in front of Julius Kolff. Sander Borghoff completed the top 4. In the final Daan took the gamble and selected a car that was good in the beginning of the race. Julius gambled as well but it did not work out for him. At the end Daan took the win one lap ahead of Pedro with Ruud Schuitemaker completing the podium. Milan Holthuis came in fourth, Julius Kolff completed the top 5. In the championship, it was between Roy Bakker and Pedro Rombouts. Pedro missed one race and had to end up in front of Roy Bakker while Roy had to finish five places in front of Pedro. Unfortunately Roy did not have the speed this weekend to challenge Pedro so the latter took the championship again.

RPM ProLite 4×4 front A-arms

RPM ProLite 4x4 front A-arms

RPM introduce new optional front arms for the Team Associated ProLite 4×4 truck. They are moulded from the company’s renown nylon compound and are designed to add strength and durability to the highly stressed front end of the vehicle. The design of the arm does away with the need to use tiny hinge pin retaining screws as the suspension pins are now secured in-line. The arms are manufactured to tighter tolerances as well, meaning reduced slop in the hinge pin holes and between the caster block and A-arms. The ProLite 4×4 front A-arms also fit the Thunder Tiger Sparrowhawk and Tomahawk and they are available in black or blue colour.
