Having covered 1/8th and 1/10th Electric from last weekend’s Nordic Championship in Oslo, Norway we now have the report from the 1/10th 200mm class. The race was originally a 2 days event, with qualifying on Saturday and the finals running on Sunday. Saturday gave great weather but the weather forecast for Sunday was indicating over 30mm of rain. After an extended driver’s meeting it was decided that the race was to be changed to a 1 day event, with the last final running half past nine in the evening. This was not a problem since the sun is up almost until midnight in Oslo.

Pedro Rombouts wins Rd3 of Dutch Nationals

Pedro Rombouts wins Rd3 of Dutch Nationals

Last weekend saw the 3rd round of the Dutch 1/10th Nationals held at the Rucphen track. With a disappointingly low turnout it was round 2 winner Julius Kolff (Serpent) who would take the TQ spot with his first run of the day and while other drivers improved their times throughout the day, they couldn’t beat his original time. The first 10 minutes of the main saw a good battle between Julius and Pedro Rombouts (Xray), the pairing running closely with Pedro taking the lead after a quicker first fuel stop before the battle continued. Unfortunately Julius ran into engine troubles and lost 2 laps before getting back on track still in 2nd. The battle for 3rd was between Roy Bakker (Capricorn) and Ruud Schuitmaker (Edam) with the positions changing due to pit stops but eventually Schuitmaker would have a an issue 2 minutes from the end which would end his race. The final order was Rombouts taking the win ahead of Kolff in 2nd and Bakker 3rd.

Vierin & Robert win Belgian SCT Cup 2013 Rd2

Vierin & Robert win Belgian SCT Cup 2013 Rd2

The second race of the Belgian SCT Cup season was held last Sunday on the famous “Beach” track of the RC Electro Liège club. A great technical layout makes this track one of the best in Belgium. Rhythm is very important to get a good pace over here and during the day, a sort of slippy blue groove appeared on the racing line. The club welcomed us and organized everything smoothly in a friendly atmosphere. The race date conflicted with exam dates for the youngest racers causing some newcomers to skip on this one. In 2WD qualification, Martin Vierin took the TQ quite easily with his SC10. Nicolas Evens (TLR 22SCT), Jean-François Renard (TLR 22SCT) and Philippe Hautecoeur (SC10) followed in that order while Nicolas Graffeo (SC10) improved a lot on his B final win of the first race to take the fifth spot on the grid.

Philip Sting wins Rd1 of Mid-German Regionals

Last weekend the first round of the Mid-German Regionals took place at the MSC Kirchhain and under great weather it was Oliver Mack (Shepherd) that took the top spot in qualifying. In the final Mack’s car hit problems which allowed Serpent driver Philip Sting to take the lead and build out a large gap. He crossed the finishing line after 30 minutes in first with a lead of 3 laps over Olaf Engelman (Shepherd) in second position, with Peter Poldvere third (Xray).

Thanks to Dieter Sting for the update.
