Atsushi Hara leaves HB/HPI Racing

Two-time World Champion Atsushi Hara has announced that he has left long time main sponsor HPI/HB Racing following 13 years with the team. Widely regarded by many as the best all round driver in the history of the sport, the 2 world titles in both touring car (2000) and 1/8th offroad (2008) are just the highlights of a very successful career which has included countless podiums in all the major classes both onroad & offroad at World, International and National level. The decision to part company with HPI was mutual and for now the Japanese ace has yet to make any decision on a replacement chassis sponsor. We chatted with Atsushi some weeks back, when he flew to Slovakia for the ETS Finale, and he hinted back then that something was about to change.

WCICS 2013/14 Season – Announcement

The non-profit Western Canadian Indoor Championship Series (WCICS) has a proud history of almost 25 years of RC racing and for this year expanded to eight races with an estimated 1500 entries. Many top name drivers have already been enjoying the series for years such as Paul Lemieux, Ty Tessman, Brian Bodine and Peter Robinson. The races take place in Western Canada and are run in Tamiya Mini, 1/12th stock and modified, GT, CTA and World GT classes as well as touring car stock and modified. The three day events, hosted by 8 different clubs, are over the winter months of September to March and the 2013/14 season kicks off at the weekend of the 29th of September in SarCar, Saskatoon. Tekno EB48.2 1/8th electric buggy kit

Tekno RC introduce the EB48.2 electric 1/8th off-road buggy kit. The vehicle features many performance and durability enhancing parts such as XT suspension arms, 1.5 degree rear toe plate new 0.5 degree offset insert, new shock cartridges and updated shock bushings. The differentials have been overhauled with new cross-pins and internal gears as well as new straight cut CNC diff ring and pinion gears. The new gears are quieter, smoother and more efficient than previous gears and feature lightweight cutouts to reduce rotating mass. Lightened differential outdrives and the lightened aluminium centre driveshaft are now standard as well. Tekno’s new angled rear gearbox and larger bearings round out the driveline improvements. Up front the EB48.2 features a new HD servo saver spring which helps to keep you pointing in the right direction. Lightened steering posts as well as lightened suspension sleeves help reduce weight without any sacrifice in durability and aluminium hard anodised pivot balls are used throughout in the kit that is available now.

Made with the basher and club level racer in mind the pack is build from 25C cells and offers a capacity of 4500mAh for long run times and exceptional performance. Duratrax 835B/E carbon options & spring sets

Duratrax have new option parts for the club-level 835 1/8th buggy platform available. Designed both for the 835B nitro and 835E e-buggy is the carbon fibre front brace that adds rigidity and a cool look to the chassis. Made for the nitro variant only is the second new graphite part, a brace for the centre differential. Again the parts scrubs some weight and adds durability. Mmade for both types of buggies are the new optional springs. Available as soft 4-piece set as well as separate front and rear packs in medium/yellow and hard/cyan the springs help to fine-tune the suspension to various track conditions and driving styles.

Arrowmax Honeycomb metric & inch nut drivers

Vaterra Glamis Fear 1/8th 2WD 4-seater buggy

Horizon Hobby introduce the Vaterra Glamis Fear 1/8th 2WD 4-Seater Buggy. Named after the World-famous Glamis site, the El Dorado for all buggy speed junkies, the Glamis Fear resembles a 4-seat tuber-style sand rail buggy. It builds on a tough long wheelbase 2WD chassis and features race inspired suspension components with long-travel shock absorbers, a gear drivetrain with viscous ring differential that avoids tyre spin in corners and an enclosed RC compartment for all-weather drivability. The buggy is powered by a Dynamite 3300kv 4-pole brushless motor and a heavy duty 3S compatible speed controller. Included is a 2S LiPo battery pack with 3S packs being available separately to further up the top speed. The buggy comes factory assembled, including a scale body shell with cockpit and driver figure and a genuine Spektrum DX2L 2.4GHz DSM transmitter.

Protoform announce Pontiac Firebird VTA body

Protoform today released a teaser image of an upcoming sports car body for the Vintage TransAm class. By the looks of things the body resembles a second generation Pontiac Firebird but we have no official confirmation yet. More details to follow soon.
