Silvio Hächler takes round 4 in Switzerland

Silvio Hächler takes round 4 in Switzerland

The 4th round of the 2013 Swiss championship was hosted by the MRCAL in the south-west of Switzerland. The organisation there is always excellent so we expected a nice event. The weather forecast was good for Friday and Sunday with about 24 degrees. Unfortunately Saturday was bad with rain for the whole day. On Friday morning the track was closed but we used the time to prepare all the stuff for the afternoon. The organisers prepared the track with sugar water, so we had good grip. Silvio Hächler set the new track record with 17.359 already on Friday. After the expected rain arrived on Saturday, it was decided to make to more qualification rounds on Sunday morning with all drivers happy about this decision. So we all used the Saturday to prepare our cars for the busy Sunday with qualifying and finals on the same day.

Alberto Garcia wins Spanish 1/8th EP Offroad Rd3

Alberto Garcia wins Spanish 1/8th EP Offroad Rd3

Last weekend, round 3 of the Spanish 1/8th EP Offroad Nationals was held at the Serracines track. The practice rounds were run on a very dusty track, without a clean racing line but for the first qualifying rounds, the grip was higher and the temperature over 30ºC, so you had to have a good package to be really competitive. Alberto Garcia TQ’d the first three qualifying rounds, ensuring the overall TQ, using the last two rounds to test different things looking for the main finals. For the final, Garcia could manage his speed and win the first two finals, taking the overall victory with his Serpent Cobra 811 Be and getting an important advantage for the championship. Agama driver Daniel Vega was 2nd with Sergio Martínez, also driving a Serpent, in 3rd.

Pietsch ‘Top Qualifier’ for ENS Race 2

Robert Pietsch is the Top Qualifier for Race 2 of the Euro Nitro Series ‘Pilot Series’ taking place in Austria after he completed a hat trick of TQ runs in the third round of qualifying to wrap up early pole position for the tomorrow’s 1:10 and 1:8 A-Main finals. The German’s closest rivals in the opening two qualifiers, Jilles Groskamp and Eric Dankel, both crashed in Q3 and retired allowing him to take the round unchallenged ahead of Serpent’s Dominic Greiner and a much improved Dirk Wischnewski. In 1:8 which is lacking the dept of field seen at Race 1 in Hockenheim, Pietsch was easily the class of the field topping the times by over 6-seconds from the Shepherd of Euro B Champion Daniel Sieber and Xray’s Jernej Vuga.
