After seeing versions from many after market companies Mugen Seiki now introduce their own steering upper plate for the use with the MBX7 buggy. The part is machined from 3mm high quality carbon fibre to increase stability and durability and comes including mounting hardware and the necessary shims for the steering posts.

Xray introduce new linear spring sets for the NT1 nitro sedan kit. Called 3S the springs are specially designed for the low profile shocks with the rear ones being 4mm shorter than the previous springs, meaning fronts and rears now sport the same length. They come selected, matched and laser-marked for equal dampening characteristics and easy identification. Beside the standard C=3.5 and C=4.0 springs also harder 4.5, 5.0 and 5.5 variants are available.

Vision Racing introduce two new carbon fibre option parts for Team Associated 1/10th off-road vehicles like the B4, T4 and SC10. First up is a short battery brace that does away with the somewhat longer original part. It is machined from 2.5mm quasi-isotropic material for balanced longitudinal and torsional stiffness. Also new is a speed controller shelf to allow the ESC to be mounted right before the shock tower. The shelf is cut from 2.0mm material and attaches right to the bulkhead using the existing screws.

The 36th Annual Texas Biggie took place at RCRCNT in Rendon, Texas and the race attracted racers as far away as Florida, Ohio, and Arizona. On Friday there was to be open practice followed by two rounds of qualifying, however rain forced the cancellation of qualifying and left what little daylight remaining for practice. On Saturday, the rain gave way to warm Texas sunshine, and four rounds of qualifying took place for the 1/8 GT, 1/10 Nitro Sedan, and 1/8 Open classes. The top qualifiers for each class were Chad Kiffe, Chris Metheny, and Terry Brown, respectively. On Sunday, it was time for the mains. The lower ones were 20 minutes, and the A-mains, 40 minutes. In 1/8 Open the top qualifier, Terry Brown, led from start to finish. Greg Esser and Bob Ingersoll placed 2nd and 3rd, respectively. In 1/10 Nitro Sedan, just as in the 1/8th Open race, top qualifier Chris Metheny never looked back, leading the entire race. Christian Jones and Brad Toffelmire rounded out the top three. In 1/8 GT, Shawn Bucklin took the win with top qualifier Chad Kiffe and Shawn Moore placing 2nd and 3rd, respectively.

Last weekend at the Nantes track in the west of France the 3rd round of the French 1/10th TC nationals took place under perfect racing conditions. Qualifying in the modified class saw Yokomo driver and Worlds finalist Loic Jasmin take the pole position and in the final he would have a good battle with Xray driver Hugo Ragaut with Loic coming out on top with the win ahead of Ragaut in 2nd and Yokomo driver Maxime Favrelle in 3rd. In the stock 10.5 class Thomas Vigneron was the winner in front of Nicolas Schwendimann and Jerome Parmentier in 2nd and 3rd.
Hipex have released this low noise 4-chamber EFRA homologated pipe for .12 engines, the only pipe able to effectively get down to the 90 dB level. After extensive testing this is the first effective solution for tracks in trouble for excessive noise without sacrificing performance. The noise reduction is equal to 6 dB and together with the INS box the noise goes down even further without loss of performance. This pipe is a standard in Dutch Nationals and has been used with much success with many satisfied racers. 2012 World and multi-time national champion Robert Battle took home the win at the second round of the Spanish nitro off-road nationals at the Montjic circuit near Barcelona. Robert completed the final one lap ahead of Mugen team mate Oscar Baldo in 2nd with Bryan Baldo completing an all Mugen/Novarossi/Procircuit podium in 3rd. Best non-Mugen driver was Dani Bernabe (SWorkz/RB) in 4th followed by Serpent’s Alberto Garcia and RB’s Andres Macelino in 5th and 6th respectively.

Kyosho Japan announce the Plazma LM Toyota TS020 1/12th scale chassis kit. Based on the Plazma Ra competition pan car the Plazma LM series of cars build on a long wheelbase fibre glass chassis with conventional T-bar rear suspension, a single central shock and dual side dampers. The highly adjustable front suspension is directly taken over from the LM’s competition sibling as are many parts of the rear suspension including the adjustable ball differential. The car is useable with a wide range of battery configurations including 1S to 2S LiPo batteries and four to six cell NiMH battery packs and comes almost ready-to-run including a brushed G20 standard motor, pre-mounted high grip foam tires and a highly detailed Toyoto TS020 LeMans body shell.
