Adrian Bernsten dominates Norwegian Winter Series Rd4

The 4th round of the Norwegian Winter series was held at the big sportshall in the small village of Spydeberg recently, which is 50 km south-east of Oslo, and Adrian Bernsten sent us this report. We saw a 600m2 big track with same layout as was used at the Nordic Championship held earlier this season (November 2010). The only difference was that we now used white and red corner dots to mark the corners better. There were 43 drivers over three classes; 1/10 touring modified, 1/10 Pro Stock and 1/12 scale and we drove three qualification rounds with the best out of three-system.

F.V.S.S. Electronic Glove

Electronic Glove is the new product from F.V.S.S. for the protection of your car’s electronics. Applied using a paint brush or by immersing the item in the substance, it creates a rubber type coating around the product which protects it from dirt and moisture. It takes about an hour to dry at room temperature or it can be sped up with a heater. To remove the coating is easy and just needs to be peeled from the device leaving no substance or residue behind (see below).

Cody King victorious at SoCal Grass Roots series Rd2

Cody King victorious at SoCal Grass Roots series Rd2

Round 2 of the popular Southern California Grass Roots series was held at Thunder Alley RC Raceway in Beaumont last weekend. This particular series is drawing rave reviews, as the entry fees are reduced to fit the tough economy, as well as encouraging a fun family oriented atmosphere. The series boasts kid classes where racers under 14 years of age can start out with Short Course competition. The attendance would reflect this popularity, as round 2 drew 220 entries, the 2nd largest draw in the history of Thunder Alley for a one day event. Fresh off his Nitro Challenge podium performance, current World Champion Cody King was in attendance at round 2. Cody didn’t disappoint, earning TQ honors in both buggy and truggy, and winning the buggy final in convincing fashion over Team Losi’s Matt Castellano. Cody built a half lap lead in the truggy main as well, only to have a servo horn break ending his bid. Joining Cody in the winner’s circle was intermediate class driver and Southern California hot shoe Jim Pierce, who won his main in dominant style lapping the field. Both drivers were using similar equipment, running the MP9 chassis with Orion power and AKA rubber.

Ahoniemi & Honigl claim European 1/12th titles

Ahoniemi & Honigl claim European 1/12th titles

CRC has done the double at this weekend’s European 1/12th scale championships in Montbrison, France with team drivers Simo Ahoniemi taking the Mod title and Hupo Honigl the Stock title. In Modified qualifying it was Yokomo driver Ronald Volker that took pole position by 2.5 seconds ahead of Simo Ahoniemi in 2nd and Hupo Honigl in 3rd spot, while in the Stock class it was Hupo Honigl that took the top spot by over 7 seconds ahead of Markus Mobers in 2nd and Vesa Yli in 3rd. In the Modified A-mains, it was not a good race for TQ Volker, with a non finish in leg 1 and 2, and despite winning the final leg, this would net the German driver only 6th overall. Leg 1 and 2 were taken by Finnish driver Simo Ahoniemi to wrap up the title with one leg to spare. Austrian Hupo Honigl took 2nd despite a non finish in leg 1, coming back strongly with two 2nd places to take the runner up spot, while rounding out the podium was Associated team driver Olly Jefferies. In the Stock class Hupo took his CRC car to the title with a win in each of the first two legs with Serpent factory driver Markus Mobers taking a consistent runner up spot with three 2nd place finishes. In the final podium spot was Belgian Corally driver Olivier Bultynck who took the win in leg 3 to leap frog Vesa Yli for the 3rd place.
