Seen at the toy fair last month, Speed Passion have released the all new Cirtix R8 speed controller for 1/8th electric buggy and truggy racing. The small footprint fits any application with room to spare, while the super tough integrated alloy heat sink case keeps it protected and running cool under harsh racing conditions. The Cirtix R8 runs both sensored and sensorless motors for the ultimate in flexibility and smooth power delivery and includes the Cirtix pocket programmer to make dialing in race settings easy and fast and with no laptop needed.

Shepherd reports on Worlds Warm up race

The warm-up for this years IFMAR World Championship 1/10 Nitro Touring Car was held in Houston, Texas at the beginning of March. For Team Shepherd it was quite an important event as it was the real first test with the team under race conditions with our latest development, the Velox V10, against other international top drivers. As announced before, Shepherd’s team drivers Jilles Groskamp, Daniele Ielasi and Josh Cyrul joined the factory staff around Patrick Schäfer to prepare for this years major event in July.

Nosram Twister Exhaust & Power Pluxx 2 plugs

Nosram have introduced the Twister 1/8th buggy exhaust system. EFRA legal (#2076) it offers considerably longer run time compared to all previously available systems as well as high power and top speed. Improved efficiency combined with robust and solid pipe construction such as stinger support, to prevent the stinger getting bent during a crash, the set includes pipe, header, exhaust seals and mounting hardware. Also new from Nosram is updated racing glow plugs. Made out of a new type of material, the Power Pluxx 2 glow plug improves the engines starting characteristics as well as the engine´s power and tuning.

Tozser wins 2010 WCICS Touring Champs

The Western Canadian Indoor Championship Series (WCICS) is the longest running RC racing series in Western Canada consisting of 4 venues over the winter season in Alberta and Saskatchewan and is attended by most of the top racers from BC, Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Montana and the Dakotas. The 2010 WCICS final event was hosted from March 12-14th by the CARCAR club in Calgary, Alberta, fielding 120 entries from across Western Canada.

Joe Pillars with Pro 2 SC at Silver State

The 2010 Silver State Nitro Challenge was held at the Silver Bowl Park in Las Vegas, NV. The weather was in the upper 60’s all week long with very windy conditions with entries for this year’s event reaching over 300. Kyosho America Team Manager Joe Pillars was on hand to help the Team and would also compete in the Pro 2 Class. This would be the debut race for the new Kyosho Ultima SC. The race format consisted of 3 7-minute qualifiers and took the drivers 2 best finishes for points. Pillars TQ’ed the last round of qualifying, laying down the fastest run of the weekend. Qualifying was very close and he would start 3rd on the grid, missing the overall TQ by 1 point.

ProTek RC LiFe range of batteries

A Main Hobbies today announced a complete line of ProTek R/C branded LiFe packs, starting with this 6.6v 2-cell ‘Supreme Power’ hard case battery pack with 4000mAh capacity and a true 35C constant discharge rate. This battery pack is built using a hard plastic pack and includes heavy duty bullet connectors and a balance charge lead that you can solder onto the wire of your choice. There is also a 6.6v 2-cell ‘Sport Race’ stick battery pack with 3000mAh capacity and a true 25C constant discharge rate and includes a Tamiya connector for charging and balancing as well as a balance charge lead. For transmitters there a 9.9v 1600mAh pack for the 3PK and M11, a 6.6v 2100mAh pack for the 4PK and a 9.9v 2100mAh pack for Futaba, JR, Spektrum and KO radios. Finally for powering your receiver there is a 6.6v 1450mAh flat RX pack, a 6.6V 1700mAh hump style pack and finally for 1/12th scale there is a tiny 6.6v 200mAh pack.

Victor Pelaez joins Serpent Spain

Victor Pelaez joins Serpent Spain

Serpent Spain have announced that they have signed front running Spanish touring car driver Victor Pelaez to race the 733 in 2010. The double Spanish National Champion and 4th place finisher at the European ‘B’ Championships in Ampuis, France in 2008 will be not only driving for the team but helping promote the new car in Spain. Víctor had the following to say about the deal:

I would like to thank Modelcar / Serpent for the opportunity they have given me to run the new 733. I will do my best to win the Championship title this year. Since the first day of testing the 733, I felt very confident, the car is amazing and I’m really happy with it.
