Ryan Maifield defends ROAR Truggy title

Utilizing his Factory Team RC8T and recently released Reedy 121 VR engine, Ryan Maifield dominated the competition at Leisure Hours Raceway in Joliet, IL at the ROAR 1/8 Truggy Nationals. In qualifying, Maifield lead the field each round by beating the best in the country time after time. Even after securing the top qualifying spot by round three, Maifield chose to run round four to test a chassis adjustment. Starting from the pole position for the main event, Maifield got off to a good clean start and never looked back. By going over nine minutes between pit stops his RC8T/Reedy 121 VR combination never missed a beat and lapped the field up to second place and set the single fastest lap time. By the conclusion of the 45-minute main event, Maifield had built a 13+ second lead over second place Jared Tebo, with Josh Wheeler in 3rd, and was the only driver to make 83 laps.

Renaud Savoya talks Euros with RB Products

Renaud Savoya talks Euros with RB Products

Following his dominant performance at the recent European Championships, double European Champion Renaud Savoya sat down with RB products at their headquarters in Fracne to talk about the event and get his thoughts on the event from practice to the final.

When I arrived in Austria, I was quite pessimistic considering the weather forecast for the week. The preparation during and following the warm-up would have been useless if the weather had been different. For the practice on Tuesday, the track was still wet and I made my first session in the sawdust. At this time, I wanted to see the evolution of the track and decided to change nothing on the car.

Novak Ballistic Spec Brushless Motors

Novak have released their Ballistic Spec brushless motors in 10.5T – 21.5T, which are completely rebuildable, right down to the hardware. In fact, only one motor is necessary to compete in all spec class races. Simply pick your class of choice, and install the necessary color-coded, hand-wound stator. Each stator includes a factory-installed insert that easily identifies the number of motor winds. To complete the racing package, this next-generation spec motor series contains an easy-to-adjust timing assembly that alters the RPM range and retains previous user settings, allowing for strategic and smart spec racing. Additionally, these sleek motors are built to ROAR/IFMAR specifications, boast a removable shielded sensor harness, and contain a 12.3mm nickel-plated sintered Neodymium rotor for maximum motor acceleration, braking power and performance in high-temperature conditions.

Grainger & Bowden take BRCA TC Rd3

Grainger & Bowden take BRCA TC Rd3

The fast flowing track at Cotswolds provided the venue at the weekend for round three of the BRCA 1:10 touring car championship. Wind and heavy rain made racing very difficult but a full entry of a 130 drivers braved the conditions for the two day meeting. In the Super Touring class Chris Grainger picked up where he left off at round two taking the victory with his Schumacher Mi4, second was Olly Jefferies for Associated with Ben Cosgrove third  for Hot Bodies. Colin Price set FTD with his Mi4 and in the process set a new Cotswolds track record, the first in the UK nationals for a LiPo powered car. Motor problems for Colin in the finals saw him finish fifth just behind the Hot Bodies Cyclone of Andy Moore. Many of the top drivers then jetted straight off to Luxemburg after the event to practice for the Euros. In the Pro Stock class it was the Hot Bodies Cyclone of Johnny Bowden, winner of round 2, that took victory in front of a very impressive and on form Ayrton Anderson, Adam Meakin completed the podium with a very well deserved third place.
