The Mugen name is a synonym for high performance nitro racing buggies for nearly two decades now. Becoming 1990 World Champion in the hands of Mugen’s Kohji Sanada, the Super Sport started the long line of winning buggies with the like of the aforementioned Super Sport, the Athlete and nowadays the MBX range of cars starting from the MBX-4 that hit the market at the end of the 1990’s to the all-new MBX-6!
We received a report from the Proline Cup which took place last weekend in Vejle, Denmark, the first time in many years there was a buggy race held indoors at a sports centre. There was 5 classes in total 1/18, Monster Trucks, Stock/beginners Starter, 2WD and 4WD. The track was a combination of carpet and smooth cement floor which took the competitors a little while to get used to, but was a fun challenge and the jump was built in wood and was a little squared and not quite natural, but worked well without crashing the cars.

Seen for the first time at the toy fair earlier this month, Hudy have released their innovative new pit bag. The first purpose-designed pit bag, it is super lightweight, easy to assemble/disassemble, and is very easy to transport within the outer pockets of your hauler bag (or stored in any regular bag or box). Smartly designed and laid out with open side pockets for items you need to access quickly, tool pockets for engine & carburetor tools (among others), and still more closable pockets for more “expensive” items like thermometers and stop watches. With one large storage compartment designed to precisely fit a 1/8 or 1/10 starter box, the other large storage compartment can be used for spare tires, equipment, and much more. There is even an extra pocket specially designed for a fuel bottle. Another great and unique feature is the adjustable side holder for a quick-fill fuel gun. Reedy have released all-new 2400mAh and 3400mAh rounded stick pack profile LiPo batteries, meaning they are a perfect fit in cars that accept stick packs exclusively such as Tamiya M-chassis vehicles. However, their universal size means that they can fit in any electric vehicle that accepts 7.2V NiMH stick battery packs. An additional design characteristic is the single cell ‘humps’ that key into chassis’ that accept NiMH batteries in a side-by-side configuration. Economically priced, both packs are perfect for spec class competitions due to the fitment in a wide variety of cars. A Tamiya-style connector with 12AWG wire comes standard, but the connector is easily changed to accommodate individual requirements.

Edit RC have added a number of new products to their range including this pure silicone shock oil. This race proven shock oil will not thicken at low temperatures or thin at high temperatures, making it ideal for every racing application from indoor 1/12th and micro to 1/8th buggy and touring car. Supplied in convenient 60cc bottles, they are available in a wide range of weights. New for the Hot Bodies D8 clutch bell, are these high quality ABEC 5 (ISO Class 5) rated 5 x 11 x 4mm bearings which have tighter tolerances for fit than the ABEC 3 bearings, but not too tight so as to reduce bearing rpm. These bearings come in too versions, one equipped with steel balls and the other with ceramic balls, for extended life and resistance to heat.

As seen at the toy fair on the HPI Racing stand, the Japanese company has released this special machined lightweight 4mm thick chassis for the World Champion Hot Bodies D8 1/8th scale buggy. Strategically milled out to reduce weight in non-critical areas, you can drop some serious weight exactly where you need it while maintaining the integrity required for a stiff racing chassis.
