Awesomatix EP Touring car prototype

During the World Championships in Bangkok, Thailand last week, Russian company Awesomatix gave us some details of their future touring car project, which we first featured back in April 2007. Currently in the prototyping phase, the car has some unique features, biggest of which is the fact that it is shaft drive, a concept abandoned by manufacturers some time ago for a number of reasons, one of which was the torsional effect caused by the positioning of the motor, which conventionally ran perpendicular alongside the shaft. However this new car claims to have solved that problem by mounting the motor perpendicular to the central shaft, yet how the power gets transferred to the shaft is still to be confirmed. Also unique is the lack of shock towers, and in fact conventional shock absorbers, which we are told have been replaced by a special kind of damper mounted at chassis level, which not only helps to keep weight down but by their very nature can absorb small bumps better and help with directional changes. The prototype has been tested and even won a race in Finland on its debut, but dont expect it to be released anytime soon, there is still some testing to be done. We will bring you more details as we get them.

Xceed RC Lubricants & Body accessories

Xceed RC have been in touch to tell us about their recent releases which include a new range of oils and some body accessories. Sold separately or in a set of all 3, there is one way lube, premium lube and bearing oil. The one way lube works, as the name suggests, very well on one way bearings such as those in the 2-speed gearbox and 4wd front axle, while the premium lube is a good all round lubricant for use in the cars transmission and can even be used as after run oil. Finally, the bearing oil contains very high quality oil that is perfect for maintaining free movement of your bearings. Also new from Xceed is some lexan 1/8th body stiffeners and rear trim tab.

Drake & Johnson take JBRL Series wins

We already told you of Cody King’s success in Truggy at the final round of the JBRL series held at Hot Rod Hobbies, but Adam Drake has filled us in on the other classes. In the Pro Buggy class it was Losi driver Mike Truhe that took the TQ spot and went on to win the race in front of his team mate Adam Drake, with Hobao driver Jeremy Kortz in 3rd. This result gave The Drake the series win, with Truhe taking the runner up spot. The Open Buggy and Open Truggy class saw a clean sweep for another Losi racer Kyle Johnson, who TQ’d both classes and went on to win both finals to also wrap up the series in both classes.

Much More True Balance 8

Much More have released the True Balance 8, suitable for 1/8th buggy and truggy wheels. It allows you to quickly and easily balance car tires by identifying the heaviest part of the wheel so that proper balancing aids can be applied. The high quality, high precision 4 ball bearings are lightly oiled for ultra fine wheel rotation, helping to identify even the smallest inaccuracies of the tire balance, while the tire is mounted to the fine finished stainless steel shaft, ensuring it rotates freely.
