Morganti & Apolaro take Winternats victory

Last week saw the 2009 Winternats run at the Ft Myers track in Florida, always the opening international gas race of the season. Qualifying saw Serpent racer Paolo Morganti TQ the 1/10th scale class while in 1/8th scale it was Mugen team driver Mike Swauger that had some serious pace in 1/8th scale to line up first. In Saturday’s finals it was Paolo Morganti that took the win in the 1/8th scale class with the new Serpent 966, finishing ahead of another Serpent driver Flavio Elias in 2nd , while Ralph Burch racing a Mugen took 3rd. In the 1/10th scale 200mm class it was again a Serpent win, this time for new ATS signing DJ Apolaro, who had a clear advantage of 3 laps over Xray driver Scott Rister in 2nd, with Chris Lefebvre a distant 3rd.

Much More have released this Soldering Station, which acts as your third hand to help with difficult soldering jobs when using Euro style connectors and ultra plugs. Featuring 8 holes on the head of the station for holding both the male and female euro connectors, it also has a clamp that can hold down an ultra plug in both its upright and laydown position and which can also hold your ESC, leaving you free to concentrate on the soldering.

Reckward Tuning have released their Symbio body shell for the Mugen MBX-6. As with other shells in this line, this body shell will allow you to use all conventional performance air filters available today on the market and is supplied with Symbio decals and window masks. The shell is made from 1mm thick high quality polycarbonate and comes transparent pre cut with the base, tank cap, engine position and antenna all milled out.

Xceed RC Cells and Fuel

The press office at Xceed RC is rather busy with two more press releases hitting our desks as the brand enters the market of providing power for your car with the release of matched cells and nitro fuel.  The PCX range of cells are based on the best 4600 NimH batteries available which are selected, pushed and matched by experts in Germany to create packs for the most demanding racers. Available in both Stock and Modified versions they will be available in 4, 5 and 6 cell packs. For nitro racers Xceed have called on respected engine tuner Karl-Heinz Meister to created a special blend of high quality racing fuel that will be produced in the Netherlands by well known fuel producer Jonkers.  The Pro-Fuel is made up of the highest quality methanol, mainly mineral oil and small percentage of 3 different types of synthetic oil. Only available in Europe, the fuel will come with 16% or 25% nitro in 1, 2.5 and 5 litre metal cans.

Xceed RC TF-1 Tyre Traction Fluid

Xceed RC have announced details of another new product to join their rapidly growing range of competition r/c accessories with the addition of tyre traction fluid.  The TF-1 formula has been developed by leading 1:12 racer Markus Mobers and is said to provide additional traction for both foam and rubber tires.  Available next month, the fluid will be sold in a tin and is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

Novak Ballistic Brushless Motor Series

Novak have released information on a new series of modified brushless motors they are to offer called Ballistic.  This next-generation motor series contains a new, easy-to-adjust timing assembly that alters the RPM range, and includes heavy-duty solder tabs that are strong enough to endure repeated soldering and tough crashes.  The sensored motors also sport a newly designed exterior with sleek, black end bells and a reconfigured rear end bell that fits more easily into racing vehicles.  Each Ballistic motor is also equipped with a 12.3mm nickel-plated sintered Neodymium rotor for maximum motor acceleration, braking power and performance in high-temperature conditions, and Thermal Overload technology to ensure the motor is operating at a safe temperature.  The motors also feature a completely rebuildable design, allowing for the ability to upgrade or replace various motor parts.  The new Ballistic series will be available in six different motor turns ranging from 3.5T to 8.5T.

Team Orion Starter boxes

We pictured them during our coverage of last week’s Nuremberg toy fair but Team Orion have now officially released information on the two new starter boxes that have been added to their nitro product range.  Complimenting their new Alpha range of engines, their is a choice of a Race Version or the larger Pro Version. Both are powered by a powerful 775 motor with the main differences apart from the visual look being that the Race model is make of rugged plastic while the casing on the Pro version is made of metal.  The other key difference is the Pro starter box can be powered off a 12V battery.  Both are available to suit both onroad and off road engine configurations.

What started as what appeared to be “just another” racing class turns into a new hot trend as it seems: the four letters “CORR” (Championship Off Road Racing) take the RC-Car racing scene by storm and once again it was Traxxas that started it all. This time with the help of the Slash called 2WD racing truck. How will it perform in the European winter?
