Walker & Brimmer claim 2007 NZ titles

The New Zealand Nationals for 1/8th scale buggies and truggies was held over the weekend and it was Australian driver Wayne Walker that came away with the 2007 National buggy title. Having lined up first for the hour long final, the Mugen racer was able to pull out a lead ahead of 2nd placed HongNor racer Peter Brimmer to finish 2 laps ahead at the end of the race with Associated racer Ryan O’Connor in 3rd. In the truggy class it was pole man Peter Brimmer, racing the HongNor X1CRT, that took the win by 2 laps in front of Kyosho driver Mike Stratford with 3rd placed Tim McKay, driving the Xray XT8, a few seconds further back at the end of the hour final.

Elliott Harper joins Team Xray

Elliott Harper joins Xray

Rising UK touring car star Elliott Harper has made the switch from Hot Bodies to Team Xray with whom he will race the T2’008 EU 5-cell spec chassis. Elliott is a well know touring car driver with some impressive results that include winning the modified class at the 2006/7 BIWS as well as being crowned the 2007 BTCC Modified Champion, he backed those results up with an impressive performance in this year modified BRCA Nationals where he finished 5th overall amongst some really tough competition. Elliot will be using Nosram Matrix Evolution ISTC speed controls, Matrix Storm Evolution Motors, VTEC Big Mama 4200 cells with the Nosram Stealth Evolution Charger.

GRP were in touch to let us know about their new GRP engine line, born from an innovative and well-advanced industrial project with the direct technical direction of Mario Rossi. GRP have established a technological and futuristic research centre, which has allowed the production of their very first projects such as the Ninja, Falcon and Boss motors, and that in the future will allow constant product development. All engines designs in the range have been studied with the most up-date and advanced mechanical simulation software to reproduce the normal working conditions of the engines and to check all components and materials for deformations at high temperature.

LRP have announced the release of a number of new additions to their VTEC LiPo range, including this massive 8000mAh 7.4V pack. Also releasing a 5300mAh 7.2V pack and a 1300mAh 11.1V pack, these new packs offer extremely high capacity, an unbelievable 25C discharge rate and less weight than standard NiMH or NiCd batteries. Featuring a soft casing, each pack comes complete with power plug and a balancer port.

Jamie Corrado joins Twister Tire USA

 Jamie Corrado joins Twister Tire USA

Some news from earlier in the week that saw Jamie Corrado confirmed as joining the Twister Tire USA team, having been a part of Twister since September. Jamie is a well known racer in the northeast part of the country and will be Twister’s liaison for that area. His achievements include winning the 2006 Great Lakes Challenge, he was a 2007 Winternats finalist and winner of the 2007 I-95 Showdown. This announcement follows on from the recent signing of DJ Apolaro (shown above right) to the same team.

S. Lnenicka wins Rd2 LRP Islikon Masters

Sacha Lnenicka wins Rd2 LRP Islikon Masters

Xray have a brief report on their site from the second LRP Islikon Masters held last weekend in Switzerland. The qualification rounds on Sunday saw Sacha Lnenicka TQ ahead of his Xray team mate and brother Ronny in 2nd place with Serpent racer Markus Geisendorf in 3rd. The finals were dominated by Sacha and he managed to win all three finals with Ronny ending up in 2nd, with Geisendorf taking the last podium spot in 3rd.

Mirage Japan have released a number of new pre made electric packs under the name Climax. Available in 4200mAh, 3300mAh and 2400mAh, these 7.2V stick packs come pre wired with Tamiya style plugs and are great for a range of applications from drifting to club level racing.

JConcepts extends Tool range

JConcepts have extended and improved their line up of tools with the introduction of some new nut drivers and other tools. Following on from the initial release of their hex drivers, JConcepts have now added a new selection of imperial and metric sized nut drivers to their range. Featuring multi coloured lightweight machined aluminium handles, they come in 3/16″, 1/4″, 11/32″ & 3/8″ as well as 5.5mm, 7.0mm, 8.0mm. Also new in the range is a phillips head screw driver, a flat head screw driver and an exhaust spring tool, all sporting a blue anodised handle. The company’s original standard wrench set, featuring .050″, 1/16″, 5/64″, 3/32″, 2.5mm tips as well as the metric set, with 1.5mm, 2.0mm, 2.5mm, 3.0mm tips, has also been updated and improved.
