Dankel takes South German 1/8th title

Following our report from the 1/10th scale South German Championship that was held on the track of the RCMSC Greuthof, the 1/8th scale racers were also in action. In qualifying Shepherd Velox race Erik Dankel was the only driver to do 31 laps and he improved the track record by 9.4 seconds. Local hero Manuel Dietrich secured the 2nd position for the final, with Shepherd driver Christian Dussinger lining up 3rd. The main final was dominated by Dankel from start to the finish and was constantly able to increase his lead and was even able to save some tires for the last minutes. Behind him it was Christian Dussinger who could secure the 2nd position and with this result the victory in the amateur class, while Bernhard Hummel rounded out the top 3.

Both supplied in hard cases, the first is a 7.4V 4000mAh 2-cell pack with a continuous discharge of 25C, while the 2nd pack has a 3300mAh capacity with a 20C continuous discharge and is supplied with fitted cables.

The Boca Bearing Company have announced the launch of the new Orange Seal LBT line of ceramic wheel bearings for radio controlled cars and trucks. The Orange Seal bearings are the latest addition to Boca’s Lightning Bearing Technology (LBT) line of high performance bearings for racing enthusiasts and are rated at an ABEC 7 tolerance, which makes the Orange Seal line the most precise bearing possible. The orange seals are designed to give the most protection from the elements possible while creating absolutely zero drag that is usually associated with full contact seals. Lastly the Orange Seal LBT bearings come with grade 5, ceramic Si3N4 balls which allow the bearing to be lighter and to spin 50% faster than a traditional bearing.

Truhe & Drake take wins at JBRL Rd6

The Drake was in touch to tell us about the 6th round of the JBRL Nitro Series that was hosted by Full Throttle Hobbies in Barkersfield CA. The 1/8th Pro Buggy class was TQ’d by the Drake, but it was his Losi/GRP team mate Mike Truhe that took the win, with Adam settling for 2nd ahead of Kyosho team driver Cody King in 3rd. In the Pro Truck class Drake once again TQ’d but this time secured the victory ahead of the Kyosho pairing of Cody King and Ryan Lutz. Team Losi had success in the intermediate classes too with victory in both the buggy and truggy going to Robert Wickham and Kyle Johnson respectively, with the latter TQ’ing both classes.

Francesco Tironi wins Italian Open UISP

The 1/10th scale Open gas UISP event was held recently at the Melzo circuit in the north of the country with racers at this event able to use Can-Am style shells. Qualifying was dominated by Francesco Tironi who took pole position by 7 seconds and was the only driver to hit 18 laps, with Cristian Costanzo lining up 2nd, Guido Barbera 3rd and Walter Ossola 4th. In the 45 minute final, Tironi was pushed all the way by Barbera who was able to stay on the lead lap till the end finishing 12 seconds behind the winner Tironi, while Walter Ossola took 3rd, 2 laps down on the leading pair.

 Gara delle Castagne - Announcement

A quick announcement for the Gara delle Castagne race, to be held on the 2 Pista Verde track in Ferner close to Belluno in Italy. Organised by the Miniteknica, with the support of the MyCandy Team and F.V.S.S Racing team, the race is open to 1/8th and 1/10th scale gas on road. Taking place on the 25th (practice) to the 26th of October you can enter, as well as find more information, on the event site here.

Schumacher Indoor Off Road Masters Rd 1

oOple have a report from the first round of the 2008/9 Schumacher Indoor Off Road Masters event held in Worksop last weekend. 137 drivers turned up to race over the course of the day, 57 in 2WD and 80 in 4WD, making this one of the most popular electric off-road series around. Tom Yardy destroyed the opposition in 2WD  running the Associated B4, Tom won three of the four qualifiers and pulled away from the field in the A final, while Simon Moss gave the Schumacher Cat a good outing and its first major ‘Lipo chassis’ victory in the 4WD class in a close fought battle to the line.
